Students of EMBAs "Management and Economics in the Golf Industry" at the Higher School of Entrepreneurship of the Financial University start an international internship in Dubai
On February 2, 2026, students of the EMBAs “Management and Economics in the Golf Industry” at the Higher School of Entrepreneurship of the Financial University began their internship in Dubai.
The week promises intensive management sessions with top executives of golf facilities and key figures in the development of the UAE golf industry. Students will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with management approaches used in the best golf clubs in the UAE and the latest business models in the golf sector.
The first day started with a visit to Jumeirah Golf Estates — a hub that attracts champions and a top-tier location for world-class golf. The development of Jumeirah Golf Estates courses in 2009 was specifically aimed at hosting the inaugural DP World Tour Championship and became a strategic element for Dubai’s transformation into a global sports center, as well as the development of golf and golf tourism in the region.
The experience of the complex was shared by top managers:
Ismail Sharif — Regional Director at Jumeirah Golf Estates, a legendary Emirati golfer, seven-time UAE champion, and former professional player.
Daniel Naudo — Club Manager, an experienced professional with extensive management experience at prestigious golf and entertainment complexes in the UK and the Middle East.
The highlight of the day was a visit to the Tommy Fleetwood Academy — a leading golf academy associated with British DP World Tour star Tommy Fleetwood. Here, PGA professionals train players of all levels using Fleetwood’s methods. Dubai branch head Tim Backhouse explained how the academy attracts juniors and tourists, integrates with the Race to Dubai, and works to grow the membership base and create a global hub. This is a vivid example of grassroots golf strategy in the UAE.
And of course, a photo with Tommy Fleetwood himself as a memory of the visit!
