On December 9, 2025, the Faculty of Finance at the Financial University hosted China Day — an event dedicated to promoting Chinese culture and traditions, as well as highlighting study opportunities in China through international programs and projects implemented by the university.
The event was officially opened with a welcoming speech by Mr. Zhang Hongjian, Third Secretary of the Chinese Embassy in Moscow. He emphasized the importance of developing educational and scientific cooperation between our countries and expressed hope for continued initiatives in anticipation of the Russia-China Cross Year of Education.
An open lecture titled “Traditional Culture — The Key to Understanding China” was delivered by Mr. Meng Xin, Deputy General Director of the China International Investment Corporation “Huamin.” He shared insights into Chinese traditions and culture, and together with students, explored the fundamental meanings embedded in Chinese characters.
Attendees enjoyed a rich program that included calligraphy master classes, consultations on studying in China, an open Chinese language lesson, and a tasting of traditional Chinese sweets. During the calligraphy workshop, participants learned how to write New Year wishes. There was also a traditional Chinese knot-tying master class led by master artist Van Zhenxiu from “Huamin”. Visitors could also try their hand at the ancient strategic game of Weiqi (Go).
Students from the Faculty of Finance hosted an interactive quiz on interesting facts about Chinese history and culture, and performed a traditional Chinese dance.
The Financial University continues to strengthen the bonds of friendship between Russia and China. Events like China Day not only expand educational horizons but also foster a lively, friendly atmosphere for international dialogue.
