On September 2, 2025, the State Kremlin Palace hosted a grand ceremony welcoming the freshmen of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, officially inducting them as students.
«Congratulations, dear freshmen, on beginning this bright and responsible journey! Today, you join the large and proud family of our university — one of Russia’s leading institutions with a history spanning over a century,» said Stanislav Prokofiev, Rector of the Financial University, addressing the new students.
«This year, each state-funded place at the University was fiercely contested by 110 applicants, with an average entrant score of 93. Among you are also 530 winners and prize-winners of academic olympiads — clear proof that the best of the best come to the Financial University!» Prokofiev emphasized. «Our university is not only renowned for its high-quality education but also for vast opportunities in science, sports, the arts, and social activities. Here, you will find your path, unlock your talents, and shape your future.»
The Rector encouraged the freshmen to be bold, active, and open to new experiences, to set ambitious goals, and confidently reach new heights. He expressed hope that their university years would be filled with exciting discoveries, joyful meetings, and unforgettable moments.
A congratulatory message was sent to the freshmen from Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. The message was read by Antoniy Shvindt, Deputy Head of the Secretariat of the Deputy Prime Minister:
«Dear students, faculty, and especially freshmen of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, I congratulate you on Knowledge Day and the start of the academic year!
Thanks to the dedication of the faculty and the introduction of advanced educational technologies, the Financial University opens the world of finance, law, and management to students — but most importantly, it helps unfold the potential within each of you. Do not miss any opportunity to dive into science, participate in university projects, including social initiatives. Set yourselves ambitious goals and strive to learn and grow.
Happy Knowledge Day! May this academic year be one of bright discoveries, bold experiments, and outstanding achievements. Onwards to new heights!»
The freshmen also heard from Vladimir Verkhoshinsky, CEO of Alfa-Bank and an alumnus of the Financial University:
«You have entered one of the country’s top economics universities. Ahead lie unforgettable years filled with discovery and opportunity. I believe you will lead a new generation of leaders who will shape our nation’s future,» he said.
The event continued with a vibrant concert program featuring musical and dance performances by the university’s creative groups and studios: the Frappe Dance Studio, the contemporary dance collective Liberte, the SDS – Fam dance studio, vocal soloists, the university choir, and the drummers’ ensemble. Special performances included popular artist Konfuz, an alumnus of the Institute of Open Education at the Financial University, and the band Mohito.
As part of the symbolic induction, representatives from each of the university’s eight faculties solemnly took their oaths on stage at the State Kremlin Palace.
The ceremony concluded with the Rector, Vice-Rectors, and Deans taking the stage together, followed by a stirring performance of the Financial University anthem, warmly joined by the entire audience.
