Program description

A practice-oriented master’s degree program that allows you to gain theoretical knowledge and practical skills in strategic and operational management of the hotel business and development projects in hotel real estate.

Special attention in the program is paid to the skills’ development in integrated project management – from concept choice to construction process control and commissioning of a hotel facility, crisis management in the hotel business, as well as practical skills in financial modeling, investment and marketing analysis, auditing, working with specialized computer programs and software.

The possibility of passing Russian and foreign internships (in friendly Asian countries – Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkey) at the best hotel enterprises and management companies with further employment opportunities.

Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to

  • Possess the skills of developing hotel products and designing hotel activities, conducting socio-economic research in the hospitality industry using basic knowledge of hotel marketing and statistics
  • Make professional management decisions, analyze, systematize, interpret, and evaluate the financial potential of various hotels
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of hotel services’ provision business processes, assess the departments’ effectiveness of hospitality organizations
  • Possess modern information and communication technologies for the hotel services’ implementation and promotion, including in the digital environment

Key disciplines of the concentration

Hotel Development: Strategic Level

Studying the discipline, the functions and types of development companies in hotel real estate management are studied. A comparative examination of the management contract and the franchise agreement is carried out, the skills of formation and examination of development ideas and projects are being worked out. Students study the specifics of hotel project construction management, aspects of financing and interaction with credit organizations, methods of project cost and risk management.

Marketing and Product Management in Hotel Development

As part of the discipline, the hotel enterprise as a real estate object, the role of a product specialist in creating a unique hotel development product, the specifics of marketing management for high-class hotel development and hybrid projects are studied, cases for creating a marketing plan for a hotel development project and a marketing budget are worked out.

Operational Models of Hotel Enterprise Management

The discipline introduces a systematic approach to operational management at enterprises in the hospitality industry in modern conditions. Students learn more about the types of organizational structures and their impact on operational management, work out cases on effective operational management of various formats of hotel enterprises.

Best Practices of Service and Customer-Centricity in the Hospitality Industry

During the course of the discipline, methods and models for assessing the service quality in the hospitality industry, universal quality management and international standards, standardization of operational procedures and regulations, the SERVQUAL concept, working with guest reviews using modern software solutions, cross-cultural communications are studied.

Personnel Policy of Hospitality Industry Enterprises

The discipline studies the personnel policy relationship with the structural elements of the business model, business processes, business reengineering, the life cycle of a hotel enterprise, the formation of personnel policy by the organization management, the main aspects of ensuring the best compliance of personnel and basic hotel business technologies. Formation and development of human resources and organizational culture of hospitality industry enterprises are considered.
