Program description

The online master’s degree in Corporate Finance and Corporate Governance is aimed at training professionals in the field of corporate finance of large corporations who possess not only theoretical knowledge, but also extensive practical skills. The program includes application of information technologies in the field of corporate finance, the development of data analysis skills, the study of international financial reporting standards and behavioral finance.

Some of the core disciplines are taught by business experts, and real business cases are used in the learning process.

  • Doctor of Economics, Professor.
  • Professor of the Department of Corporate Finance and Corporate Governance of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.
  • Authored more than 300 publications in HAC journals (including more than 70 publications in RSCI, Scopus and Web of Science journals) on corporate finance and data analysis, including behavioral finance and the use of text analysis to disclose issues of social and corporate responsibility in non-financial reporting of companies. Some publications are devoted to models for predicting the bankruptcy of Russian companies and clarifying the regulatory values of financial stability and liquidity coefficients, considering industry specifics. Expert of the Russian Science Foundation, Head and participant of grants from the Russian Foundation for Basic Research, the Russian Fundamental Research Fund, state assignments, etc. The tutorial “Financial Management in Excel" (2020, “KnoRus") was published and edited by E.A. Fedorova.

Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to

  • Read and analyze financial statements of large corporations in accordance with domestic and foreign standards;
  • Apply methods of economic and mathematical analysis while preparing analytical reviews and feasibility of management decisions;
  • Work with large amounts of information, identify the main trends of the financial market and make forecasts;
  • Understand the principles of risk management and be able to apply them in practice, optimize the company’s cash flows;
  • Identify alternative investment options and form an effective investment portfolio;
  • Identify quantitative and qualitative economic relationships between indicators of large corporations and indicators of the external environment using mathematical and statistical methods and models.

Key disciplines of the concentration

Corporate Finance

Students will have modern knowledge in the field of corporate finance and the financial market, disclosure and interpretation of financial information, as well as the acquisition of managerial decision-making skills in the field of cash flows.

Econometrics

Students will learn more how to identify quantitative and qualitative economic relationships between large corporations’ indicators and the external environment indicators using mathematical and statistical methods and models.

Data Analysis (R, Python)

Students will learn how to analyze economic data using machine learning methods in the R or Python environment, including big data processing and text analysis.

International Financial Reporting Standards

Students will learn how to interpret and analyze the company’s financial statements compiled according to international standards, and understand the basic principles of evaluating the main elements of financial statements.

Financial Planning (Advanced Level)

Students will learn how to plan the general budget in large corporations, as well as the budgets of individual departments to determine their financial costs and results, the construction of long-term financial plans.

Research Workshop

Students will learn how to search for modern foreign and domestic economic literature on financial topics and information retrieval.
