Program description

The academic program “Tourism and Hotel Business" is an integrated program that consolidates the development of economic and managerial skills, financial and legal aspects in tourism and hospitality. The key characteristics of the program are

The program provides training of international-level personnel based on the launch of modern scientific and digital environment achievements into the educational process, an organic combination of the best Russian and foreign traditions, and also provides an opportunity to study some of the most significant disciplines on practical examples of successful travel companies.

Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to

  • Apply the theory and practice of Russian and foreign companies in the field of tourism and hospitality for the development, promotion and management of tourist and hotel products, brands of tourist territories and hotel groups.
  • Competently assess the tourist potential of the territory, classify, and evaluate the resources of tourist destinations, participate in the event organization using national tourist resources.
  • Analyze, monitor, and evaluate the quality of business processes for tourist and hotel services’ provision, evaluate the effectiveness of departments (services, departments) in tourism and hospitality organizations.
  • Participate in the development and management of projects for the tourist territories’ sustainable development, including the application of socially responsible tourism, social entrepreneurship, and corporate social responsibility.
  • Develop, adjust various excursion routes and programs, including using multimedia technologies, make technological excursion maps, calculate the cost of excursion routes.
  • Investigate the market processes of tourism and hospitality development, changes in consumer preferences to introduce strategic changes in the tourist and hotel enterprises’ work, improving the sales technology of tourist and hotel products, including in the digital environment.

Tourism Business and Tourism Products

While studying the discipline, students learn more about the main properties of the tourism product, its characteristics, the complete chain of product creation, its analysis, and cost calculation. Students will have skills in the development of tourism products, the process of entering the market and the main ways of promotion in the market.

Marketing in Tourism and Hospitality Industry

Key characteristics and features of marketing in the tourism and hospitality industry. Marketing concept in tourism and hospitality. Marketing technologies in the tourism and hospitality industry.

Branding of territories

Theory and practice of Russian and foreign companies in brand development, promotion, and management in the market. The role of the brand in the modern economic development of the Russian Federation. Legislative framework in brand policy of companies.

Quality Management of Tourism and Hotel Services

A systematic approach to quality management. Basic principles and models of quality management in the hospitality and tourism industry. Standardization and certification system. Standards of hospitality: international, national, corporate. Principles of standardization of business processes in hospitality. Operating standards.

Sales Technologies in Tourism and Hospitality Industry

Formation and development features of service sales technologies in the tourism and hospitality industry. Modern technologies of services sales as a tool to improve the enterprise efficiency.

Business planning in tourism and hospitality

While studying the discipline, students learn more about the main elements of strategic and business planning of a travel company’s activities, methods of managing the company’s economic performance, as well as the directions of using the results of business planning in the activities of a travel company

The program trains specialists who will work in the tourism and hotel business, in the event sphere, in the creative industry, to create author’s tour projects and tourist territories’ development.
