Program description

The demand for high-quality specialists in hotel business management has been growing since 2011 in parallel with the growth of hotel real estate in Russia. And as many foreign management companies left from the market since the beginning of 2022 the need for professional personnel for hotels has increased at times.

The Government of the Russian Federation is taking unprecedented measures to support and develop the hotel industry in the country, implementing the national project “Tourism and the Hospitality Industry”. Leading Russian universities are involved in the implementation of training programs for the industry.

The new program “Hotel Business” is aimed at training specialists who are ready to become part of hotel business organizing management team in the future, who can make decisions on the development and improvement of hotel facilities in a changing external environment and challenges of a geopolitical scale.

The program is based on:

✓ basic principles of operational activities’ organization of a hotel enterprise.

✓ information technologies of hotel facilities’ operational management.

✓ technological processes of a hotel enterprise (theoretical aspects of algorithm construction and standards development, as well as practical implementation experience).

✓ marketing and sales of hotel services in a new reality.

✓ technologies of hotel facilities’ strategic and project management.

✓ hotel market analytics.

✓ 2 foreign languages, business, and intercultural communication.

✓ 4.5 months of practical training at hotel facilities.

Each course has the key disciplines, which are implemented in partnership with employer companies based on real industry cases with public protection of projects.

During the period of study at this program of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, you will have:

Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to

  • Know the methods of developing, promoting and selling a hotel product in accordance with the changing conditions of the international hotel market and consumer preferences.
  • Have the skills to conduct meetings and presentations of a hotel product (or individual hotel and additional services) both for a wide audience and individual partners and customers.
  • Possess research methods of the main factors determining the need for changes in the strategy and tactics of the hotel enterprise/hotel complex’ services and departments, forms and technologies of consumer and tourist services.
  • Have the skills to develop and implement corporate standards, regulations, and service protocols in the activities of a hotel enterprise/hotel complex’ services and departments.
  • Possess strategic and tactical methods of analyzing and assessing the needs of a hotel enterprise/hotel complex’ services and departments in material resources and personnel, methods of strategic and operational analysis and effectiveness evaluation of a hotel enterprise/complex’ services and departments, including based on international management reporting standards.

Key disciplines of the concentration

Service Technologies and Organization at Hospitality and Catering Enterprises

This discipline will give students the theoretical and organizational foundations of the service organization at hotel and restaurant enterprises, standards of operational activity at all stages of the technological cycle of guest service, technology, and organization of catering services in hotel complexes.

Software and Automation of Hotel Activities

Internet, Intranet and WEB technologies at the enterprises of the hospitality industry. Automation of business planning and evaluation of business projects’ effectiveness at enterprises of the hospitality industry. Calendar and network planning and project management at the hospitality industry enterprises. Statistical data processing at the hospitality industry enterprises.

Management of Hotel Complex Resources

Types and structure of a hotel enterprise resources. The main directions of hotel enterprise resource management. Efficiency assessment of using different resource’s types at a hotel enterprise. Modern resource management systems of a hotel enterprise.

Marketing in Tourism and Hospitality Industry

Key characteristics and features of marketing in the tourism and hospitality industry. Marketing concept in tourism and hospitality. Marketing technologies in the tourism and hospitality industry.

Business Planning in Hospitality

While studying the discipline, students will learn more about strategic and business planning of hotel enterprises, methods of managing the hospitality facilities’ economic performance, as well as directions for using the results of business planning in the activities of hotel companies.

Digital Tools for Tourism and Hospitality Industry Development

This discipline covers transformation of hotel business development traditional models in the context of digitalization, the stages of developing digital strategies in the tourism and hospitality industry, the main types, characteristics, and classification of digital projects in the tourism and hospitality sector.
