About the department

The Department of Management and Innovation is a structural educational and scientific subdivision of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, whose objectives are:

  • Training of highly qualified managers with strong analytical, leadership, and teamwork skills;
  • Development and implementation of modern educational programs;
  • Obtaining and disseminating research results of theoretical and practical value.

One of the main competitive advantages of the Department of Management and Innovation is corporate relations and cooperation with such Russian and international companies as JSC Goznak, Russian Export Center, JSC Russian Railways, JSC Aeroflot, Citigroup, PwC, KPMG, etc.

About 120 companies offer our students a unique opportunity to join an internship. Representatives of Russian business become guest lecturers at the Department of Management and Innovation, participate in the meetings of the Council of the Department, and actively recruit graduates of the Department.

The Department of Management and Innovation is proud of its alumni, who work in the largest Russian and international companies, who are scientists and researchers.

Key directions of research in the field of management:

  • Study of value creation and transmission to the consumer within business models in the modern economy. Study of sectoral applications of the sharing economy, the digital platform economy, the experience economy from the perspective of promising trends in production and consumption.
  • Study of approaches of operational and strategic development of business models. Development of resource approach methods to strategic management for further understanding of sustainable competitive advantages of business and management consulting.
  • Strategic and operational management in international companies. Development of export strategies and formation of competitive advantages of Russian and international companies in global business.
  • Managing change, organizing intra-team interaction, developing emotional intelligence and flexible skills.
  • Operational management, decision-making based on data analysis, solution of optimization tasks and management science.

Key directions of research in the field of innovation

  • Management aspects of the introduction of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the Internet of Things, Cloud Computing, E-commerce, Big Data, Predictive Analytics, Cognitive Technologies. Study of the best practices of improving business model blocks taking into account factors of innovation activities, digital transformation of industries and new international market opportunities.
  • Technological entrepreneurship. Assessment of innovative activity of companies in order to ensure formation of distinctive competencies, competitive advantages, growth of business value. Specification of methods of technological forsyth in the context of development of innovative strategies of industrial enterprises.
  • Design and organization of innovation processes and innovation infrastructure at the level of the state, region, industries, inter-firm networks, and individual companies. Management of innovative projects at micro-, meso- and macro levels. Research of innovative advantages of sectoral clusters.
