About the department

The Department of Financial Markets and Financial Engineering was established on 02/01/2024 as a result of the reorganization of the Department of Financial Markets and Financial Engineering of the Faculty of Finance.

The Department educates bachelor’s degree students in the profiles “Financial Markets and Fintech”, “Financial Markets and Banks”, “Finance and Investments” and master’s degree students in the profiles “Economics” and “Finance and Credit”.

Students receive basic theoretical training in general economics and specialized financial disciplines. As a result of the education they should know how financial markets in Russia and abroad are organized and function, what factors influence their development, be able to conduct fundamental and technical analysis of financial markets and make informed investment decisions, apply in practice methods of risk management, manage a portfolio of securities, develop programs of securities issuance by companies, prepare analytical materials related to the functioning of various segments of the financial market, determine the development strategy of a financial intermediary (bank, investment company, investment fund) in the financial market.

Alumni of the Department of Financial Markets and Financial Engineering of the Finance Faculty of the FinU successfully work in companies that are professional participants of the financial market: investment companies Finam, Renaissance Capital, BrokerCreditService, Alor, banks Gazprombank, Promsvyazbank, Alfa-Bank, Rosbank and others, in the Moscow Stock Exchange, in the financial departments of companies that are active in issuing and investment activities, in the Bank of Russia, in the Ministry of Finance.

Teachers of the Department of Financial Markets and Financial Engineering are actively engaged in research work within the framework of two scientific schools.
