The Department of Intellectual Property Management was established in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation dated December 18, 2002, No. 3116/o and is the Basic Department of the Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent).
The Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent) is the legal successor of the Federal Service for Intellectual Property, patents and trademarks, as well as the legal successor of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation in terms of legal protection of the state’s interests in the process of economic and civil turnover of the results of research, development and technological work of military, special and dual design, including obligations arising from the court decisions’ execution.
Rospatent is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.
The main goal of the Department is to train innovation-oriented specialists who will be in demand on the labor market and will be able to participate in solving strategic socio-economic problems.
The Basic Department of Intellectual Property Management will contribute to the expansion of the skills of specialists in economics and innovation.
The joint implementation of educational programs with Rospatent will allow to train specialists in the management of knowledge-intensive projects, both in legal protection of intellectual property results, and in auditing the assets of an organization, accounting and valuation of relevant intangible assets.
The Basic Department of Rospatent is intended to become a center for the development of innovative inter-faculty projects that will allow students to acquire not only theoretical knowledge, but also practical experience in working with intellectual property objects at all stages of their creation and implementation.
In the future, it is planned to hold a series of open lectures at Rospatent based on the Department, to introduce continuing education programs, including for faculty members, as well as joint competitions for students and participants of acceleration programs.
