Delegation from the Embassy of Brunei Visits FinU

On April 7, 2021, by invitation of the Faculty of International Economic Relations, a delegation from the Embassy of Brunei made its first official visit to the Financial University. The delegation was headed by His Excellency Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam Haini Hashim to the Russian Federation who was accompanied by Third Secretary of the Embassy H.J. Mohammad H.J. Saiful Azlan, Attaché of the Embassy Julay Hazri and CEO of the "Russian - ASEAN" Business Council Daniyar Akkaziev.

Rector of the Financial University, Prof. Mikhail Eskindarov welcomed His Excellency Mr. Ambassador and the guests of honour. 

"We are delighted to welcome you to the Financial University! Today over 45,000 students are studying at the University, and approximately 1,300 are foreign students from more than 80 countries. And we would, of course, be delighted if students from Brunei would come to study here too. Financial University is also actively expanding its presence abroad and is confidently raising its position in international and domestiс ratings", notes Prof. Mikhail Eskindarov.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to the Russian Federation Haini Hashim thanked everyone for the invitation, noting that the relations between Russia and Brunei are not only warm but also really friendly.

His Excellency Ambassador

Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Alexander Linnikov welcomed the guests, noting FinU’s keen interest in long-term and fruitful collaboration with the University of Brunei Darussalam. Mr Vice-Rector spoke about the history of the University, its directions and faculties, including the Pre-University Training Faculty, and also mentioned numerous double-degree programs and international projects carried out at the Financial University.

First Deputy Dean of the International Economic Relations Faculty Tatiana Goroshnikova, Deputy Dean of the International Economic Relations Faculty for International Cooperation Evgeny Smakhtin and Scientific Advisor of the Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communication Department Marklen Konurbaev participated in the meeting.

"Cooperation with ASEAN universities is of crucial importance for the Faculty of International Economic Relations! Vietnam, for example, has been a long-standing partner of the Financial University.  We are confident that the recent participation of Dean of the Faculty Mikhail Alexeev and our Scientific Advisor Alexander Ilyinsky in the meeting with Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the ASEAN countries as well as today’s visit of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Brunei Darussalam to the Russian Federation Haini Hashim will allow to develop and strengthen relations between our countries in the field of higher education", notes Tatiana Goroshnikova, First Deputy Dean of the Faculty of IEO.

At the end of the meeting, the parties outlined the main areas for further interaction and also decided to sign a cooperation agreement to develop mutually beneficial cooperation.

Students of the IER Faculty had a chance to meet His Excellency Mr. Ambassador who gave a very informative presentation about Brunei Darussalam and shared important messages from ASEAN leaders and answered all the questions asked.

After a fascinating lecture, the guests visited the Rector’s floor, where they could learn more about the history of the Financial University, its alumni and outstanding faculty members. In the end, they had a tour of the Museum of Finance, during which they visited an exhibition dedicated to the history of money circulation in Russia.
