The heroic past of the Russian people is the basis of the national idea which unites and inspires the peoples of modern Russia. National Unity Day is timed to coincide with the events of 1612, when the people of different beliefs, nationalities and social status, under the leadership of Kuzma Minin and Dmitry Pozharsky, liberated Moscow from Polish invaders.
One of the most important public holidays was approved by the Federal Act from December 29, 2004. This day is not only a symbol of the unity of multi-ethnic Russia, but also an example of true patriotism and high responsibility for the destiny of the Motherland.
