In 2019 the survey included 436 universities, which is 12 universities less than in 2018 (444 universities). The reduction in the number of participants is connected with the reorganisation of the universities, as some of them have been merged. The rankings included the following indicators as job placement rates, commercialisation of the intellectual product of the organisation, and citations of its employees.

The ranking included state, municipal, and private organisations of higher education, among which there are 88 classical universities, 125 engineering universities, 49 agricultural, 65 humanitarian (including pedagogical, philological, sports), 59 universities of management and 50 medical universities.
