March 10, 2020, students of the Pre-University Training Faculty at the Financial University learned about the tradition of celebrating International Women’s Day in Russia. Students also shared how they celebrate similar holidays in their country. Students from Bulgaria introduced one of the Bulgarian traditions and gifted everyone with a Martenitsa.

Bulgarians exchange special souvenirs, so called "Martenitsy", and tell each other, "Chestita Baba Marta!" (Happy Grandma Marta!). Bulgarians meet spring with meet spring with joy and new hopes. 

Unusual dolls "Martenitsy" are made of white and red yarn and usually in the form of two dolls, a male and a female. These dolls are worn to cheer Baba Marta, who  is a grumpy grandmother in the Bulgarian folklore, whose mood changes very quickly as the weather in March.
