The RAEX rating agency has released the results of their new research project - the ranking of the top universities in the BRICS countries, which was conducted in collaboration with the Russian Union of Rectors.
FinU has been included in the leading group of universities for the 2024 BRICS ranking:
88th position in the overall list of participating institutions,
20th position among the top Russian universities!
Conceptually, this research is based on the methodological principles of the The Three University Missions Moscow International Ranking, which assesses the key missions of contemporary universities: contribution to education, scientific activity, and interaction with society.
The new rating model takes into account the national characteristics of different educational systems and the possibilities for interaction between them. For example, as part of evaluating scientific activity, analysts from RAEX used the number of scientific publications prepared in collaboration with researchers from universities in BRICS countries as one of the criteria. For the first time, the ranking used a criterion that evaluates the number of publications published together with partners from the BRICS group, which allows us to reflect the intensity of scientific cooperation between countries.
The ranking is based only on objective data obtained from open sources by the agency. No reputation surveys are conducted.
The list of universities included in the pilot ranking of the best in the BRICS includes over 800 institutions from Russia, Brazil, Egypt, India, Iran, China, the United Arab Emirates, South Africa, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia.
To compile the ranking, the following data sources are used:
- Public statistical reports of universities,
- Scientometric data from the Web of Science Core Collection,
- Data from the class aggregators Class Central, Open Education (Russia), and icourse163.org (China),
- Materials from the Internet encyclopedia "Wikipedia",
- Search engine data from Google, Yandex, and Baidu,
- Social media data from VK, Sina Weibo, YouTube, and Telegram,
- Similarweb Web Analytics data,
- Data from websites of international student Olympiads and academic awards from the IREG list of international academic awards.
