On September 20, 2024, Minister of Finance of the Republic of Belarus Yuri Seliverstov paid an official visit to the FinU. He delivered an open lecture on economics and finance of the Republic of Belarus in the context of modern challenges for students of the Faculty of Finance and the Faculty of International Economic Relations.

In his welcoming speech, Stanislav Prokofiev, FinU Rector, noted that the University and educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus have a close academic partnership: to date, ten cooperation agreements have been signed.

"We maintain excellent relations not only with Minsk universities, but also with educational institutions in other regions of the country. Our partners include the Belarusian State University, the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of Belarus, as well as the Belarusian State Economic University, together with which we plan to launch double-degree programs starting from the new academic year," said the Rector of the FinU.

In his speech, the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Belarus highlighted the main characteristics of the country's economy, emphasizing its high diversification and technological development, which creates the basis for sustainable economic growth. Yuri Seliverstov also presented to the students the structure of the state finances of Belarus, told about the consolidated budget, which includes the republican and local budgets, its structure of income and expenses.

At the end of his speech, Yuri Seliverstov noted the challenges facing the country's financial system, including the financial system digitalization, adaptive legislation, creation and development of its own institutions and systems.

After the lecture, the FinU students asked their questions to the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Belarus. Yuri Seliverstov called machine building, machine tool construction and microelectronics promising sectors of the country's economy, noting that they are the future. Answering the question about the risk of not achieving budget balance, Yuri Seliverstov pointed out the importance of living within your means and monitoring changes in the economy in order to prioritize spending and make timely adjustments to the budget. The Minister of Finance of the Republic of Belarus also spoke about new opportunities for cooperation with the countries of the East.

The FinU Rector presented the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Belarus with the commemorative medal "105 years of the FinU" for fruitful cooperation with the University, symbolizing the importance of further strengthening academic ties. Yuri Seliverstov, in turn, handed Stanislav Prokofiev a coin for the 100th anniversary of the financial system of the Republic of Belarus.

During the visit of the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Belarus to the FinU, Stanislav Prokofiev also presented the concept of interaction between the University and the largest employers aimed at improving the practice orientation of education, and personally conducted a tour of innovative educational spaces, told about the launch of a new model of work of basic departments and improvement of the internship system for young professionals.​
