On September 2, 2024, a solemn event for the first-year students of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation - Dedication to Students took place in the State Kremlin Palace.
"On this wonderful day, it is with great pleasure that I welcome new members of the great family of the FinU. This year the University has welcomed more than 17 thousand students," said Stanislav Prokofiev, Rector of the FinU. Congratulating the first-year students on the Knowledge Day and the beginning of the new academic year, the Rector emphasized that this year was the biggest admission competition in the history of the University, the average score of the Unified State Examination for the state-funded basis was 94 points.
"Among our students there are many famous people - almost 500 laureates and winners of All-Russian and international Olympiads, famous sportsmen and creative personalities. Today I would like to pay special tribute to the real heroes of our time and the pride of Russia - the participants of the special military operation. Among the FinU freshmen is the gunner of the legendary Alyosha tank, the Hero of Russia, Alexey Neustroev," the Rector said.
Stanislav Prokofiev emphasized that over 105 years of the University's history, more than a million highly qualified specialists in finance and banking, talented managers, great statesmen and corporate executives have left its walls, and noted the contribution of the faculty to the education of several generations of professionals, united by common values and the desire not only to learn a profession, but also to become worthy citizens of the country, contributing to the development and prosperity of our homeland.
"FinU is a mega university of opportunities. Here you can realize yourself in science, business, take part in many sports and creativity. Dear friends, I wish you an interesting and eventful student life, hold the title of FinU student in high esteem and cherish this honor," said Stanislav Prokofiev.
Dmitry Chernyshenko, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, sent a video message to the new students. In his message, Dmitry Chernyshenko mentioned that the FinU, as one of the leading universities in the country, educates sought-after and qualified specialists who can easily find promising and interesting jobs.
"You have passed the serious entrance exams with dignity. An exciting and eventful time lies ahead of you. I am sure that study at the FinU will be a wonderful school of life for you and will open up new opportunities," said Dmitry Chernyshenko to the students.
Anton Siluanov, Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation, Dean of the Faculty of Finance (FinU), congratulated the new members of the University family. "Dear friends, you have made the right choice and today you become a part of our financial school - a FinU unique community that unites many influential economists and financiers of our country," the Minister addressed the freshmen.
Anton Siluanov emphasized that it is during the student years that friendly and professional ties are formed, which will help to move forward and lay the foundation for all future successes and achievements, "You need time to become not only an educated person, but also a cultured person, a truly creative and versatile person. Such specialists are in demand today. That is why I advise you: go to theaters, museums, cinemas, festivals, exhibitions - develop, use your student years!
Nikolay Zhuravlev, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council, addressed the first-year students with a welcoming speech. "Dear students, today is one of the most important events in your life, and before you lies the crucial time of choosing your profession, your business. That is why it is important to make a well-informed choice, because this is the moment when the foundations for the success of your life are being laid," Nikolai Zhuravlev said.
In his speech, the Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council emphasized that the FinU has educated a galaxy of outstanding economists, financiers and bankers, entrepreneurs and statesmen, and continues to develop and strengthen its position in the academic and scientific environment: as a large analytical center, the FinU contributes to solving the most important socio-economic problems.
The official part continued with the greeting of the Head of the Federal Treasury Roman Artyukhin. Addressing the first-year students, the head of the Federal Treasury of Russia noted that the Financial University under the Government of Russia assigns a special mission to each student - the mission to serve our Fatherland. "I am sure that you, future alumni, will soon join a large army of financiers working in all sectors of our country's economy," Roman Artyukhin said.
Eli Isaev, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Finance of Russia, Head of the Department of Financial Control and Treasury at the FinU, joined in the congratulations. In his welcoming speech he noted the importance of a new stage of life - student life. Addressing the first-year students, Eli Isaev wished them an exciting study and expressed confidence that the FinU will prepare worthy top class specialists for our country.
Grigory Gurov, Chairman of the Board of the Russian Movement of Children and Youth "Movement of the First", congratulated the new members of the FinU family. "Being admitted to the FinU opens up tremendous opportunities for professional and personal growth. Today you find yourself in a unique community of people, which I am happy to be a part of. Dream and be the first," said Grigory Gurov.
The first-year students were also addressed by the CEO of Alfa-Bank, FinU alumnus Vladimir Verkhoshinsky. "You have enrolled in one of the best universities and an amazing time awaits you. You are the future leaders of the country," said Vladimir Verkhoshinsky. The head of Alfa-Bank emphasized the importance of cooperation with the FinU aimed at improving the practical orientation and education digitalization.
A video message to the freshmen was recorded by a FinU alumnus, Hero of Russia Baldan Tsydypov. In his greeting he noted that the students had passed a serious competition and now they were entering a new stage of life where they would have to learn a lot, learn to think and make decisions on their own, as well as find real friends.
The event continued with a rich concert program, which included many music and dance performances by FinU creative teams and studios: the choreographic studio "Frappe", the modern dance collective "Liberte", soloists of the vocal studio, the choir and the ensemble of drummers of the FinU. The popular artist "Almal" also performed for the guests of the holiday.
As part of the symbolic dedication to the students, the first-year students - representatives of each of the 8 faculties - solemnly took the oath from the stage of the State Kremlin Palace.
In the final part of the event, after the Rector, the Vice-Rectors and Deans entered the stage, and the anthem of the FinU was sung by the University choir. The artists were cheered by the whole hall.
