On the 18th of June, 2024, the FinU Faculty of Finance held an open defense of the final exams prepared by the students of the Economics concentration "State and Municipal Finance".
The State Examination Commission included representatives of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, the Faculty administration, and the faculty of the Department of Public Finance of the Faculty of Finance.
Welcoming the alumni, Margarita Vasyunina, Head of the Department of Public Finance, stressed that presenting research results to potential employers is an important step in building a successful career, and also noted the practical significance of the proposals developed by the alumni.
The students presented their ideas and proposals on a wide range of topics, including the development of the pension system of the Russian Federation, budget revenue generation, programme-based management of public expenditures, inter-budgetary relations, management of budget funds on a single account of the federal budget, initiative budgeting, tax expenditures of the budget, financial aspects of implementation of the modern environmental agenda.
On behalf of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, the discussion of the research results was attended by Nadezhda Golovina, Head of the Department for Analysis and Forecasting of Revenues Related to Natural Resources of the Revenue Department, Artur Veretennikov, Head of the Department for Budgeting and Revenue Execution of the Revenue Department, Anna Penchuk, Head of the Department for Program and Target Planning Methodology of the Department for Program and Target Planning and Project Management, Head of the Department Of Methodology of Openness and Statistics of Public Finances (Department of Budgetary Methodology), Tigran Baghdasaryan, a FinU alumnus, Zukhra Zhappuyeva, an adviser to the Department of Municipalities of the Department of Inter-Budgetary Relations.
The discussion of the results obtained by the students took place as a scientific discussion: the vectors of further scientific research have been identified, which can be implemented when students completed the Master's degree programs. The experts of the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation also noted the breadth of the topics of graduation theses and the high level of professional and communication skills of future financiers.
