On June 19-24 in Moscow took place the XII annual forum of universities "The Future of Higher Education", organized by the ranking agency RAEX (RAEX-Analytics). The purpose of the event is to promote the development of higher education in Russia, as well as to assess the ability of universities to carry out in a balanced manner three key missions - educational, scientific and public.

The XIII annual ranking of the best universities in Russia RAEX-100 was presented at the forum. FinU with 4.0311 points confirmed its position as one of the leaders of Russian education and science and was ranked 12th. Among the best universities in terms of employers' demand for alumni, FinU took 7th place, which testifies to the high applied professional skills of students.

FinU consistently holds leading positions in such subject categories as Economics - 3rd place, Management - 4th place, Sociology - 4th place, Political Science and International Relations - 6th place.

This year, the agency expanded the range of subject rankings with two new categories, "Hospitality Industry", where FinU is the absolute leader, and "State and Municipal Management", where FinU strengthened its position among the top five educational institutions.

The work of the expert platform was opened by the plenary discussion "Resources for the Development of Higher Education: Expectations and Reality". Alexey Khodyrev, Executive Director of the University Ranking Department of RAEX rating agency, presented a report on the main modern trends in higher education.

During the discussion, Stanislav Prokofiev, Rector of the FinU, focused on the importance of adapting curricula to new realities,

"In today's conditions, higher education is undergoing significant changes and adapting to the new requirements of the labor market. The basis for the demand for alumni by employers should be created".

Speaking about the proposal of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education to divide the master's degree, Stanislav Prokofiev noted,

"If the new model of higher education will establish three types of master's degrees, then FinU sees it this way: professional (master's degree aimed at companies), managerial (actually an analog of the MBA), research (scientific master's degree for future postgraduates)".

The discussion also touched upon the issue of development and active construction of new campuses and University infrastructure. Stanislav Prokofiev noted that FinU is the second largest university in Russia in terms of the number of branches, and also emphasized that thanks to the effective branch work neither young people nor highly qualified specialists, teachers, scientists leave their regions.

"Our mission is to make education affordable and of high quality for every student. The implementation of a system of continuing education, double degree programs and new network educational programs with leading universities in their field today is the key to a successful tomorrow," said the FinU Rector, answering a question about the national development goals of the University.

The discussion was also attended by the rectors of leading Russian universities, such as Bauman Moscow State Technical University, NUST MISIS, MEPhI, Ural Federal University named after the First President of Russia B. N. Yeltsin, as well as the President of MIPT. The event was moderated by Dmitry Grishankov, Deputy Chairman of the Public Council of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, CEO of RAEX.

The forum has become a platform for exchanging experiences and ideas that contribute to the development of higher education and improve its quality. The participants expressed their hope for further cooperation and interaction in these areas.
