On May 30-31, the Moscow Case Championship of the FINOPOLIS.365 Youth Program of the Bank of Russia took place at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation. 16 teams took part in the tournament, among them 14 students of the FinU, including freshmen.

FINOPOLIS.365 Youth Program is a series of events aimed at popularizing financial technologies among young people and developing unique innovative fintech projects. The FinU Faculty of Finance is the base for the Case Championship in Moscow, one of the key events of the program, where participants compete in solving business problems.

Over the course of two days, the teams not only demonstrated their skills and talents, but also learnt something new, analyzed trends and opportunities for the use of digital technologies in the financial market, and developed concepts for solving urgent problems according to the cases proposed by the organizers. On the first day, the participants implemented new ideas and completed presentations. The second day of the championship was marked by the grand opening and the final presentations of the teams.

The event was opened by Grigory Ostapenko, Vice Rector of Digitalization  of the FinU. Stressing the importance of cooperation between the University and the Fintech Hub of the Bank of Russia, he wished the participants of the case championship to demonstrate their talent and potential,

"Case championships are not only competitions, they are also training, an opportunity to gain new knowledge and the first step in building a successful career in financial technology and innovative entrepreneurship."

In his speech, Stanislav Korop, Acting Head of the FinTech Department of the Bank of Russia, noted the importance of popularizing financial technologies among the new generation and thanked the participants for their bold ideas. The expert gave a lecture on "Technologies in Finance: Why Are They Needed and Why Does Everyone Use Them?", naming AI the introduction of biometrics, and innovations in payments among the relevant areas of development in the financial sector.

After the official opening, the participants and guests of the championship waited for no less lively performances of the teams. A total of 16 pitches were presented to solve business cases from large companies. In their presentations, the teams demonstrated new aspects of financial technology and its practical application.

The FinU students achieved excellent results and won prizes. The second place was won by Maria Blokhina, a student of the Faculty of Economics and Business, as part of the "Key to Digit" team with a Flexsoft case. Daria Kazmina (Faculty of Higher School of Management) and Egor Solodkov (Faculty of International Economic Relations) took the third place as part of the "Green Team" with a case of Alfa-Bank.

The winners of the case championship had a unique opportunity to finalize their projects with the support of mentors - financial market experts - and present them at the final of the Youth Program of the Global Forum of Innovative Financial Technologies FINOPOLIS 2024, which will be held on October 16-17, 2024 in the Federal Territory of Sirius.
