On June 9, 2024 the foreign students of the FinU visited the New Jerusalem Monastery.

The idea of creating a New Jerusalem belongs to Patriarch Nikon, who headed the Russian Orthodox Church in the XVII century. It was planned to equip the monastery so that the grandiose structure would include all the main holy places related to Jesus Christ.

The objects of the Holy Land were reflected as fully as possible on the territory of the New Jerusalem Monastery of the Resurrection. The monastery became a Stavropol Monastery - the main temple, headed by the Patriarch. And today the monastery retains its high status.

For many years the ancient monastery has been a special place not only for believers. The New Jerusalem near Moscow served as a source of inspiration for famous writers and artists - M.Y. Lermontov, A.P. Chekhov, I.I. Levitan, etc.

The foreign students got acquainted with the history of the monastery and Orthodoxy, the life of the clergy, works of art and relics.

During the tour the students actively communicated with the guide, asked their questions and shared their impressions of the event.
