On June 29, 2023, the grand opening of the Alfa-Bank Digital Department took place at the Faculty of Information Technology and Big Data Analysis of the FinU. Its profile is Data Science technologies, large language models, artificial intelligence in finance and even more. The FinU Digital Department was headed by the Head of the Alfa-Bank Center for Advance Analytics Alexey Kashirin.
The participants and guests of the ceremony were welcomed by the FinU Rector Stanislav Prokofiev. In his speech, he stressed that Alfa-Bank is the largest private bank in Russia and is a leader in the banking technology market.
“Now the most urgent issue is the filling of curricula with practice-oriented topics. The digital component is necessary today in almost all specialties, the possession of modern skills in high technologies is the basis of the demand for specialists. Alfa-Bank is a leader in the areas of financial and digital technologies, indeed, creating new entities. The opening of this educational space will give a start to the development of a new training concentration at the faculty and will open up unique opportunities for students,” said the Rector of the FinU.
Stanislav Prokofiev also expressed gratitude to the Chief Managing Director of Alfa-Bank, Vladimir Verkhoshinsky, for supporting the FinU and actively participating in landmark projects aimed at developing the university’s brand.
The head of Alfa-Bank, Vladimir Verkhoshinsky, in turn, noted the importance of cooperation with the FinU – the leader in financial education in Russia.
“FinU is one of the largest universities in the country, and joint cooperation is strategically important for us as the country’s leading private bank. Alfa-Bank is a technology leader, and sets trends in many ways, and expertise in advanced analytics in almost all business areas is one of the key ones. Our Data Science specialists confidently win all hackathons and competitions, our digital achievements are noted by experts. And we are especially pleased to announce the launch of the first digital banking department in Russia at the university as an important milestone in the technological development of young people,” Vladimir Verkhoshinsky stressed.
In addition, the bank opened a stylish space in the Alpha corporate style at the University. From the new academic year, training will begin according to the basic department program: lectures, seminars and students’ project work. Alfa-Bank will also organize special internships for students of the Digital Department. Students will have the opportunity from the first days of training to cooperate with the organization they want to get into. The new space at the FinU will allow them to immediately get closer to the bank’s corporate culture.
The official part of the meeting was completed by the solemn signing of a cooperation agreement between the FinU and Alfa-Bank.
The opening of the Digital Department continues the interaction of Alfa-Bank and FinU. This year, the bank launched the Product Owner course for university students. Five of the best were offered an internship.
