On June 17, 2023, the traditional Youth Day of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum was held, which was attended by more than 3,500 participants.

As part of the Youth Day business program, sessions, trainings and discussions were held aimed at realizing the potential, self-determination, and improving the skills and competencies of young people.

Stanislav Prokofiev, FinU Rector, took part in the marathon session “Destiny Project. Practices and Internships”, dedicated to the basics of student practices and internships, selection, registration and options for passage, as well as training mentors and values for the civil service and the market.

The FinU Rector emphasized the importance of interaction between the university, the student and the employer. Among the key areas, Stanislav Prokofiev highlighted the possibility of attracting students to project work, obtaining multidirectional qualifications and smooth entry into professional activity, emphasizing the importance of practices and internships for the successful inclusion of students in work.

Stanislav Prokofiev cited the VEB.RF project as an example, which allows students to immerse themselves deeply in the work of the state corporation, and gave the floor to Kirill Emelin, an alumnus of the Financial University, who has been interning at VEB.RF for 6 months. Kirill stressed that such practice allows not only to increase the level of professional skills, but also to seriously broaden the mindset.

The FinU Rector also added that the University is actively working in these areas, enabling alumni to become more competitive in the labor market: the university has its own project exchange, recruitment for two qualifications and additional education programs are open.

Alexey Komissarov, General Director of the Russia – the Land of Opportunities platform, Elena Mukhtiyarova, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Russian Federation, Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Head of the Personnel Management Department also took part in the discussion JSC “Russian Railways” Sergey Saratov.

The discussion was moderated by Alexey Perventsev, Deputy General Director of ANO “Russia – the Land of Opportunities” and the Managing Director of VEB.RF Alexander Machevsky.

During the discussion, experts discussed how to develop the work value and culture of the youth, how to correctly define the terms “practice” and “internship”, and what problems of the universal agreement between the university and organizations need to be solved.
