On June 7, 2023, the XI annual Forum of universities “Future of Higher Education” was held in Moscow and  organized by the rating agency RAEX (RAEX-Analytics). The forum, aimed at promoting higher education development in Russia, considering changes in the national and global agendas, brought together representatives of relevant ministries and departments, heads of leading universities, representatives of academic and expert communities.

As part of the forum, the XII annual rating of the best universities in Russia RAEX-100 was presented, and the award ceremony of leading universities was also held. The FinU, having scored 4.0700 points, confirmed its position as one of the leaders of Russian education and science, taking 12th place in the rating.

The Vice-Speaker of the State Duma Boris Chernyshov welcomed the participants and event guests. Among the key tasks of the education system development, Boris Chernyshov identified the integration of higher school traditions, innovative approaches and the most effective educational practices. The Vice Speaker of the State Duma also stressed the importance of the forum, which unites the best universities’ heads who create the future of Russian education, emphasizing the FinU role.  

The expert platform work was opened by the plenary discussion “Sovereign Education System: Long-Term Goals and Challenges of the Current Moment”, where the FinU Rector Stanislav Prokofiev took part. Rectors of leading Russian universities, such as Bauman Moscow State Technical University, ITMO, MIPT, NUST MISiS, RANEPA and others also participated in the discussion. During the meeting, the participants discussed the education system reform, the system of assessing the universities’ scientific and technical level, the transformation of requirements for young professionals, as well as the priorities of international cooperation under sanctions.

In his speech, Stanislav Prokofiev, FinU Rector, focused on the importance of adapting the specialties’ list to new realities, “As part of an experiment, the FinU is implementing a new educational model this year, which provides for a combination of two qualifications in a diploma.”  The Rector also noted the importance of scientific publications as a tool for evaluating fundamental science, highlighting the importance of cooperation with Russian scientific journals. Speaking about applied scientific research, Stanislav Prokofiev noted their practical application as an evaluation criterion, emphasizing the enormous effect of some studies of the Financial University.  As an example, the Rector cited the technology of a single treasury account – a product of scientific research by university experts.

Concluding his speech, Stanislav Prokofiev noted the importance of digital transformation as well as the new technologies’ introduction into the educational process. FinU implements a unique course “Digital Finance” in the R programming language, which allows you to focus on solving specific economic problems.

The forum program was continued by thematic sections devoted to the demand for alumni in the labor market and the role of universities in regional sustainable development, where FinU was presented by the Vice-Rector for Scientific Work of the FinU Svetlana Solyannikova.
