Before the celebration of the 78th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the Rector of the FinU Stanislav Prokofiev laid flowers at the monument “To the Militia of Moscow”, which is installed in the park at the intersection of Narodnaya Opolcheniya Street and Marshal Zhukov Avenue. Representatives of the FinU administration also took part in the flower-laying ceremony.
The monument to the people’s militia is a landmark for Moscow. On July 4, 1941, the State Defense Committee adopted a resolution “On the voluntary mobilization of workers in Moscow and the Moscow Region in the People’s Militia Division.” The militia bravely fought in aviation, artillery, rifle units, in sapper units, in partisan detachments. The people’s militia took the first battles on the outskirts of the capital. Here his military skills strengthened, mass heroism manifested itself. The Moscow militia has passed a glorious combat path.
Students and employees of the FinU (Moscow Financial Institute) during the Great Patriotic War joined the ranks of the 13th Rostokino Division of the People’s Militia, which was sent to the front and heroically restrained the Nazi hordes at the turn near the village of Kholm -Zhirkovsky in the Smolensk region.
The militia defended their hometown at the cost of their lives and did not allow the enemy to reach the capital of our Motherland. The memory of their feat will live forever in our hearts!
