On April 23, 2023, an Open Doors Day was held at the FinU, where all faculties, bachelor’s, specialist’s and master’s degree academic programs, as well as projects in pre-university training and advanced training were presented.
The meeting was opened by Stanislav Prokofiev, Rector of the FinU, who outlined the key features that distinguish the University from other top universities – the level of teaching, the level of scientific research, as well as the environment and opportunities. “FinU is a university of society and opportunities which is based on the link between generations. This is a mega-scale university, one of the five largest universities, and the largest university that trains specialists in economics, management and finance, a community of thousands of alumni, teachers and students, charged with positive energy of creative ideas and possessing powerful intellectual capital,” the Rector said, addressing the guests of the Open Doors Day.
Stanislav Prokofiev particularly focused on the possibilities of professional and personal development, “Becoming a FinU student, you will discover new talents in yourself, significantly improve personal skills.” He added that the FinU has expanded the range of language training for students, and provides an opportunity to study not only European foreign languages, but also Turkish, Arabic and Chinese. In addition, FinU continues to cooperate with foreign partners, both traditional and new.
Stanislav Prokofiev emphasized that extracurricular activities of students organically continue the learning process. “FinU adheres to a modern approach, which is based on uniting students by professional and creative interests,” the Rector explained. FinU students get to know the best practices of regional governance during the Study tour field educational project, try themselves in public policy and support socially significant projects by participating in the events of one of the largest associations in Russia in student self–government, the practice-oriented club “Self-Government Beyond Borders”. Another significant area of the FinU work is the support of youth entrepreneurship, a unique business environment for the acceleration of student startups has been formed on the basis of the FinU, a business incubator and an entrepreneurial club have been created. In addition, students can try themselves in science by becoming a participant in university research in key areas of economic development.
“One of the key areas of our work is the digitalization of education and business processes. In this regard, we pay special attention to improving digital literacy at all faculties,” the Rector said. A unique course “Digital Finance” is being implemented at the FinU, where we teach design thinking and train mathematical economists who know the R programming language, which is in demand for solving specific functional tasks.
Another know-how of the FinU has become a pilot educational project, as part of which a combination of two degrees in a diploma is planned. The experimental educational model will allow combining such specialties as Business Audit and Law, International Communications and Corporate Culture, Corporate Reporting and Business Law, and others.
Stanislav Prokofiev emphasized that the FinU pays more attention to the development of scientific and educational infrastructure, in cooperation with market leaders, unique laboratories, modern coworking and media libraries have been created on University campuses.
The Rector also drew the guests’ attention to the fact that the FinU infrastructure is accessible not only to Moscow citizens, but also to students from regions and many countries of the world. “Today, FinU has the most modern network of residence halls, and is the leader in providing places in such a service,” Stanislav Prokofiev explained.
He assured applicants and their parents that in case of successful admission, students will live in absolutely comfortable conditions, use the entire modern infrastructure of the FinU during their studies, and they will be able to recover after exams at the Lesnoe Ozero Resort, where activists regularly hold sports and creative events.
Speakers at the Open Doors Day were also 3 FinU students who are professionally engaged in sports, Alexander Lopatkin, Alina Kvak and Alexandra Egorova. The students told the guests about the sports sections working at the FinU for both professionals and amateurs, and assured the applicants that everyone will find something to their liking and combine it with successful studies.
During the day, there were consultation zones for prospective applicants and their parents, where it was possible to learn about the admission rules and preparation for admission. Vice-Rector for Marketing and Working with Applicants Svetlana Bryukhovetskaya drew the attention of the meeting participants to the specifics of how to submit documents and about enrollment stages, told about the accounting of individual achievements and the Olympiad movement. FinU experts and psychologists conducted training and workshops for college students, where they told about the tips of preparing for exams, about career planning and opportunities to launch their own business.
For the first time, as part of the Open Doors Day program, university guests were able to participate in themed music, dance and sports flash mobs. The event participants were particularly interested in the playground where they could try their hand at golf. The building hosted an exhibition of creative collectives and clubs “Student Life” and a fair of additional student education programs.
Future applicants also talked with volunteers and representatives of the FinU Student Council, took part in specialized workshops and saw FinU creative teams’ performances.
