On March 29, 2023, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Olga Petrova paid a working visit to the FinU and met with representatives of the FinU administration and student activists. The event was dedicated to the main directions of the youth policy implementation, as well as best practices in organizing extracurricular work at universities.

The meeting was opened by Stanislav Prokofiev, Rector of the FinU. In his welcoming speech, the Rector expressed gratitude for the opportunity to share his experience in the development of youth projects and initiatives. Stanislav Prokofiev also spoke about the main cooperation areas with the FinU industrial partners, emphasizing the importance of the educational process practice-oriented component, and outlined promising and significant projects in continuing education and advanced training for both students and specialists.

Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education, addressing the meeting participants, noted the importance of dialogue with young people to exchange experience and best practices in organizing extracurricular work at universities. “We work for students, create opportunities for the student life to be bright and memorable,” Olga Petrova added.

The guest of honor was the Assistant to the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Anthony Schwindt. During his speech, Anthony Schwindt spoke about the main trends in Russian higher education development, focusing on such significant characteristics of the education system as flexibility and adaptability, and also noted the importance of developing relevant professional development programs for teachers.

The meeting working part was opened by the Vice-Rector for Social Work and Extracurricular Activities of the Financial University Alexander Kozharinov, presenting to the guests the structure and main activities of the university extracurricular work.

FinU Activists, in turn, told about their significant initiatives and projects – the adaptation project for first-year students “Coordination” and the annual educational training “School of the Actives”. Special attention was paid to the students’ participation in project activities with the possibility to implement their ideas as part of the unique practice-oriented project of the FinU “Self-Government Beyond Borders”, the organization of practices and internships, the exchange of professional experience of participants in the annual educational initiative of the university “Study-tour”.

Students asked the guests their questions about the development and improvement of the student life quality.

Summing up the meeting, Olga Petrova and Antony Schwindt noted the diversity of youth associations and projects existing at the FinU, which contributes to the high students’ involvement in extracurricular activities, and also urged students to use all opportunities and receive in-demand knowledge and skills that will become the foundation of a successful career.

During the visit, the Rector of the Financial University also personally conducted a tour for the guests in the university museum exposition.
