Anastasia Afanasyeva, supervisor of the employer’s brand development group, told what networking is and why it is needed at the workshop “Networking, or How to Build Useful Relations” on March 14, 2023. The event was held online.
Establishing long-term relationships with people for mutual assistance opens up new horizons, among which the expert named employment opportunities, quick access to information and recommendations, increased visibility and motivation, since people are determined by their environment. However, according to the supervisor, networking, like everything else, needs a goal, “possible goals are finding like-minded people, partners or customers for your business, expanding horizons, finding an internship or a job, developing a personal brand.”
Anastasia Afanasyeva paid special attention to elevator pitch or a short presentation, with the duration limited to one minute. The point of the reception is to convey to your partner the main project concept without additional materials, using only correctly constructed phrases, charisma and gestures. Also, do not forget about the rules of good manners, including smiling and maintaining eye contact with the interlocutors, not interrupting the speakers and not spreading unverified information.
In conclusion, Anastasia shared life hacks that can help in making new acquaintances and answered students’ questions.
