On the Russian Students Day, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko delivered an open lecture at the FinU on the topic “Scientific and Technological Sovereignty, Challenges and Solutions”.

Before the lecture, the Deputy Prime Minister congratulated the students on Tatiana Day and noted that the Russian Government is ready to actively support students’ research initiatives and help them realize their creative potential.  

“In total, we have more than 4.2 million talented and purposeful students in our country. In the near future, they will become highly qualified specialists and will be involved in solving the most important tasks set by Russian President Vladimir Putin – achieving technological sovereignty, digital transformation of key economic sectors. Congratulations to students from all over the country! You are our future, happy holiday!” the Deputy Prime Minister said.

In his speech, Dmitry Chernyshenko spoke about the priority directions of scientific and technological development and digital transformation in key sectors of the Russian economy. The Deputy Prime Minister paid special attention to achieving Russian technological sovereignty.

After the lecture, the students were able to personally ask the Deputy Prime Minister their questions and share their vision of further scientific and Russia’s technological development as a live dialogue. In particular, the students were interested in how today it is possible to increase the prestige of jobs such as a scientist and teacher.

Among the significant tools Dmitry Chernyshenko noted the grant support system and stressed the importance of the domain “Science”, which will purposefully finance certain scientific developments and monitor their results.

Special attention was paid to the support of student business projects. Dmitry Chernyshenko emphasized the role of university-based startup acceleration, told about the most interesting projects of financial support for entrepreneurial initiatives, and also urged the meeting participants to continue lifelong learning and expand the range of professional competencies.

Stanislav Prokofiev, FinU Rector, noted that it is a great honor for the University to become a platform for the speech of the Deputy Prime Minister.​​​ 

“Dear students! First of all, I would like to congratulate you on your holiday – the Russian Students Day, Tatiana Day, and all those present Tatianas in the Hall today – on the name day. Undoubtedly, this is a celebration of youth, drive and creativity. It is symbolic that today Dmitry Chernyshenko is speaking at the walls of the FinU, one of the leading universities in our country.  I would like to emphasize that the Government’s decisions aimed at changes in the IT industry, initiatives in education and science are an important driver for achieving the national development goals of the country and implementing large-scale state projects,” Stanislav Prokofiev stressed. ​

During the visit Dmitry Chernyshenko also visited the FinU Museum and the exhibition “Money of War”.
