Pavel Sorokin, first Deputy Minister of Energy of Russia held an open lecture for students of the FinU Faculty of Economics and Business. Elena Markina, FinU Vice-rector  and Ekaterina Bezsmertnaya, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business made a welcoming speech.

 

The Deputy Minister spoke about the development of the Russian oil and gas complex in the current economic conditions.

 

“Significant discovered reserves of oil and gas resources have played an important role in the formation of the Russian economy, and despite the turmoil in world markets, they will be crucial,” said Pavel Sorokin.

 

“The oil and gas sector is a quarter of our GDP, and considering the basic order for the industry that it creates, this figure is much higher. Many other industries, including the IT sector, depend on the work of the oil and gas complex, millions of jobs are provided. The key challenge here is to properly dispose of the funds received,” he stressed.

 

Together with the students, Pavel Sorokin analyzed the reasons for the rapid development of green energy in the last decade, and spoke about the primary tasks of the Ministry of Energy of Russia in the conditions of volatility in world markets.
