On March 25, 2022, the Department of English and Professional Communication will hold an annual All-Russian Science and Practice Videoconference “Modern Tendencies in Professionally-Oriented Foreign Language Teaching”.

The conference is designated to bring together linguists, methodologists, and philologists to discuss innovative ideas in the field of foreign language education. Using this opportunity, teachers-researchers will be able to discuss modern linguistic methods and their use in teaching foreign languages at the university. Moreover, topical issues of professionally-oriented teaching of foreign languages with the use of distance educational technologies will be on the agenda.


A series of reports will be devoted to the practical aspects of digitalization and individualization of the learning process in the language courses at the university. The speakers will focus on the ways to improve the quality of foreign language teaching in the distance learning format. Invited guests will share their experience in creating and implementing study courses used in teaching a foreign language for professional and academic purposes.

Special attention will be paid to the issue of forming a civic position of one’s language identity when teaching a foreign language as well as to the potential of using such a tool as emotional intelligence in professionally-oriented foreign language teaching.

Annual All-Russian Science and Practice Videoconference, aimed at discussing issues of professionally-oriented foreign language education, has been held annually for more than 6 years and has become a good tradition of an exchange of pedagogical and methodical experience with teachers from the FinU branches from Krasnodar, Altai, Yaroslavl, Krasnoyarsk, Vladikavkaz, Smolensk, Kursk and etc, scientists from various Russian universities (Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Research University Higher School of Economics, Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration, Russian State University for Humanities, Moscow Polytechnic University, Baikal State University, Novosibirsk National Research State University, Irkutsk State University, I. N. Ulyanov Chuvash State University, Kabardino-Balkar State University named after H.M. Berbekov, and Odintsovo Branch of MGIMO University).

The conference is held online on the Microsoft Teams platform or in the offline mode in Leningradsky Prospekt 49, room 406/Leningradsky Prospekt 51, room 0412.
