On March 13, 2022, FinU foreign students visited the Museum of Moscow. The excursion was organized by the International Students and Faculty Department.

As part of the tour, the students visited the exhibition “Moscow: Designing the Future”. At the exhibition, the students were told about the development of Moscow’s architecture since the XVII century. They learned about the most daring ideas of transforming the city and also saw what Moscow would be like if all dreams of Constructivists’ were fulfilled and Stalin’s Master Plan for the Reconstruction of Moscow was realized. The tour guides shared how the appearance of the capital was influenced by specific people and events and how modern urban development is organized.

The organizers of the exhibition invited foreign students to watch some short documentary films devoted to the development of roads, parks, social and cultural infrastructure as well as events that changed the face of the city: the transfer of the capital, logging, fires, anniversaries, 1980 Summer Olympics and others.

At the end of the excursion, students visited the “Utopia” section. The “Utopia” section displays amazing unrealized architectural projects, including the Automobile Tunnel under the Red Square, a competition for the development of Moscow in 1932, including proposals by Le Corbusier, famous “The Flying City” by Georgy Krutikov and much more.

The tour was attended by 36 foreign students from 21 countries, including: Afghanistan, Belarus, Bolivia, Guinea-Bissau, Cambodia, Greece, Indonesia, Italy, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Mexico, Moldova, Mongolia, Peru, Syria, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkey, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine.

Throughout the tour, students asked questions about the exhibits, and after the tour thanked the guides for the tour.
