In 2021, the results of the 11th monitoring of admissions to Russian universities were published.

How many points (on average) did the applicant need in 2021 to enter the budget?

In 2021, for the first time in years of observation, the trend of constant growth in the quality of admission to higher education institutions stopped. From 2015 to 2020, the average pass score of the USE for Russia as a whole rose from 66.1 to 70.8 respectively, and in 2021 it was 70.3.

Financial University of the Government of the Russian Federation has become one of the top 10 universities in the country, where graduates of schools with the highest average score in the USE enter.

How was the study conducted? Monitoring has been carried out since 2010 and the quality of admission is assessed by the average score of applicants enrolled in the first year of a full-time bachelor/specialist degree on the basis of their USE results. The results of the winners and winners of the Olympics, which the universities enroll without entrance tests, are counted as 100 points.

Monitoring is also an important indicator not only of the quality of the first-year entrants, but also of the reputation of the universities themselves. Monitoring has traditionally been a key reference point for applicants' choice of university and educational programme. In 2021, the study covered 838 institutions of higher education, including 404 main State institutions, 345 branches and 89 non-State institutions. The monitoring does not include military and creative universities: the authors explain this by the fact that in such institutions the USE is not a key selection parameter.

Last year, a total of more than 526,000 students were enrolled in the universities included in the monitoring, which is 28,100 more than in 2020.
