On May 20, 2026, in Beijing, during the official visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the People's Republic of China and high-level talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation and China Media Group (CMG) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the bilateral leadership negotiations.
The Memorandum formalizes both parties' commitment to advancing collaboration in mass communications, science, and culture, grounded in the principles of equality, mutual benefit, and friendly partnership. It outlines three core areas of joint activity:
Mass Communications

Co-production of news reports, thematic programs, and short-form video content,

Exchange of media materials and editorial resources,
Research Cooperation

Joint research projects in news broadcasting and media technologies,

Organization of academic seminars, conferences, and scholar exchanges,
Cultural Exchange

Leveraging each institution's unique strengths to co-host exhibitions, cultural events, and creative competitions.
Stanislav Prokofiev, Rector of the Financial University, commented on the significance of the agreement:
"Signing this Memorandum with one of the world's largest media groups—China Media Group—opens new horizons for our University. We are not only strengthening academic and scientific ties with China but also gaining a unique platform to showcase our institutional expertise in the global information space. Collaboration in media technologies and joint content creation projects will enable our students and faculty to produce real-world media content aligned with leading international standards. This is a strategically important step in advancing the Russian–Chinese educational and expert dialogue."
As a follow-up to the Memorandum, the parties will finalize and sign a detailed Roadmap for implementation in June 2026, during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
