"The CASE-IN International Engineering Championship makes a significant contribution to training a new generation of highly skilled professionals for key economic sectors and fully aligns with the goals of the national 'Workforce' project. Through close cooperation with the government, business, and universities, the project opens up real career opportunities for young people. Such initiatives not only foster healthy competition among the country's engineering schools but also serve as a powerful driver of professional growth for young specialists. By solving real-world industrial challenges, participants gain valuable practical experience and analytical skills, becoming the highly sought-after professionals that Russia urgently needs," noted Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.
The "Yin and Yang" team, comprising third-year students from the Financial University's Faculty of Economics and Business, emerged as prize-winners at the championship finals, taking 3rd place in the "Oil and Gas Engineering" track.
During the qualifying rounds and the finals, the Financial University team competed against student teams from Russia's top 10 leading engineering universities.
The Financial University was represented at the championship by students Shahman Akamov, Gamid Aliyev, Ilya Dratinsky, and Fedor Chesnokov. The team's mentors were Antonina Sharkova, Doctor of Economics, Professor, and Head of the Department of Industry Markets at the Faculty of Economics and Business, and Timofey Mazurchuk, PhD in Economics, Associate Professor at the Department of Industry Markets, Faculty of Economics and Business.
The "Oil and Gas Engineering" track is curated by the Yakutsk Fuel and Energy Company, which is engaged in the exploration, production, and processing of natural gas at the fields of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia). The company is not just a championship partner; it develops real-world engineering cases for students every year, based on the actual challenges faced by professionals working in the Far North.
CASE-IN is an international system of engineering case-solving competitions for schoolchildren, university students, and young professionals. The organizers are the Nadezhnaya Smena Foundation, the Youth Forum of Mining Leaders Non-Profit Partnership, AstraLogika LLC, and the presidential platform "Russia – Land of Opportunities." Since 2019, the Championship has been included in the list of 19 international student olympiads, participation in which is taken into account when compiling the RAEX-100 ranking of the best universities in Russia.
