About the Institute

The Institute of International Education (IIE) of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation was established with the purpose of developing international cooperation in the field of education and strengthening the reputation of the Financial University at the global educational level. IIE provides an integral educational offer corresponding to the conception of Lifelong Learning. 

The mission of the Institute is to offer top-notch professional education and continuously advance the skills of the specialist, thereby strengthening the position of Russian education and promoting the Russian language abroad. Support of the Russian language is a significant aspect of the humanitarian foreign policy of the Russian Federation. Therefore, support for studying language, culture and society is an indispensable part of our educational mission, representing a key instrument of political, economic, cultural, scientific and educational international cooperation.

Functions of Institute

Organizes education of foreigners and stateless persons at the Financial University in the following programs

1. Continuing professional education:

  • Professional Retraining and Postgraduate Diploma (PG Dip) programs of postgraduate education aimed at gaining new professional competences and a change of occupation. These programs allow to take up a new occupation or significantly expand knowledge and skills in the following areas: business, pedagogy, marketing, project management, finance, cross-cultural communication, etc. Special attention is given to the development of professional skills for doing business in Russia and international trade. The duration of the course is 250 academic hours (7 ECTS) or more. 
  • Continuing Professional Development / CPD

These programs are aimed at maintaining and updating existing professional skills in the fields of business, education, law, marketing, project management, finance, cross-cultural communications. Particular attention is paid to developing the professional skills necessary for doing business in Russia and internationally. The duration of the course is 16 academic hours (0,5 ECTS) or more.

2. General education courses

These are courses for all levels of learners aimed at learning general knowledge of the Russian language and culture, including intensive and specialized courses (language courses, intensive language programs, business language courses). These courses could be taken as a part of Summer and Winter Schools.

3. Additional professional education for teachers 

The programs are aimed at the professional development of foreign teachers teaching Russian as a foreign language abroad (considering the provisions of the Strategy of the State National Policy of the Russian Federation and the Fundamentals of the State Language Policy of the Russian Federation).

4. Joint Educational Programs and Dual Degree Programs

These are programs of continuing professional education established between Financial University and partner institutions abroad. 

Organizes international internships and work experience abroad

  • for foreign students in organizations of the real sector of the economy and government agencies of Russia 
  • for Russian students, managers and specialists in foreign countries
  • Trains Russian citizens in continuing professional education programs

Professional retraining and advanced training programs designed to develop and enhance competencies that ensure successful operation in the international market, as well as expansion and update of the current professional skills and knowledge that meet the modern requirements of global business.

Collaborates with professional communities and associations

Including foreign communities and associations that represent the interests of entrepreneurs of specific countries, conducting business in Russia. 

Participates in implementation of national projects of Russia

The projects are aimed at strengthening the position of Russian education and spreading the Russian language abroad.

Priority areas of international cooperation

The Institute of International Education develops international cooperation, guided by the provisions of the Foreign Policy Concept of the Russian Federation adopted on March 31, 2023, considering the official position of the state.

Priority countries for international cooperation in 2026:

  • CIS countries and other near-abroad states;
  • People’s Republic of China;
  • Republic of India;
  • African countries: Nigeria, Algeria, Ghana, Tunisia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Zambia.
  • Socialist Republic of Vietnam;
  • Saudi Arabia.
