The International Student Office was established by order of the University on August 31, 2018 (No. 1611/o) and functions as an independent structural unit within the divisions coordinated by the Vice-Rector for Social and Extracurricular Activities.
The history of the International Student Office dates back to May 18, 2017, when the order No. 1035/o was issued to form the Organizational and Visa Department (OVD). On September 19, 2018, by order No. 1727/o, the OVD was transformed into the International Student Office. Currently, the office comprises two subdivisions:
- Migration and Visa Department
- Department for Supporting International Students and Faculty
Main responsibilities of the International Student Office include:
- Providing migration and visa support for international students, staff, and foreign nationals engaged in study or work at the university
- Implementing comprehensive adaptation programs (academic, socio-cultural, linguistic, psychological) for international students and staff in collaboration with university departments.
- Organizing protocol and logistical support for official events and delegations.
Specific functions of the International Student Office include:
- Preparing invitations for visa applications for foreign nationals arriving in Russia as part of international delegations or for study at the university.
- Handling documents related to migration registration and visa extensions for international students and staff.
- Monitoring compliance with migration registration requirements, valid visas, and other legal documents in accordance with federal migration laws.
- Regulating adherence to educational processes by international students and overseeing their academic progress; conducting social adaptation activities.
- Preparing certificates and other documents upon request from international students and staff.
- Maintaining electronic databases of international students, alumni, staff, and visitors.
- Providing informational and practical assistance to university departments on matters related to international activities.
