Pre-University Faculty

The Pre-University Faculty is the leading institution within the pre-university training system. Its primary mission is to prepare students from abroad, who do not speak Russian, for higher education at the Financial University and other universities across Russia.

The curriculum at the Pre-University Faculty offers programs in various fields, including Economics, Engineering and Technical Sciences, Humanities, and Medical and Biological Sciences. Students who successfully complete the coursework and pass final assessments receive a Certificate of Completion from the Pre-University Faculty.

In addition, the Faculty provides specialized programs for international students aimed at preparing them to study professional courses in Russian (with some instruction in English). These programs include intensive language training in Russian and English, as well as discipline-specific courses taught in English.

Each year, over 200 students from more than 65 countries study at our faculty. We welcome students from India, China, Vietnam, Mongolia, Korea, Sri Lanka, Japan, Nigeria, Angola, Zambia, Kenya, Mexico, Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Syria, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Madagascar, Peru, Bolivia, and many other nations.

Our faculty is equipped with modern classrooms featuring multimedia technology. Students also have access to libraries and coworking spaces for independent and group work.

The teaching staff consists of experienced educators with extensive experience working with international students.

We also organize cultural, creative, scientific, patriotic, and excursion activities aimed at fostering social adaptation and community engagement among our students.

Educational Programs

Preparation for Bachelor’s Degree Programs

The pre-university program for international students is designed to equip them with the necessary skills to pursue undergraduate studies in Russian in fields such as Economics, Humanities, Engineering and Technical Sciences, and Medical and Biological Sciences. This preparation enables students to continue their education within the Federal State Educational Budgetary Institution of Higher Education "Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation" and other universities across Russia.

 The curriculum at the Pre-University Faculty has been carefully developed to ensure a high level of readiness for students to succeed in their chosen bachelor’s programs. During the course of study, emphasis is placed on improving Russian language proficiency and mastering professional terminology essential for future career development.

The training at the Pre-University Faculty is conducted in full-time form. 

In addition, courses in Russian language are part of an extended general education program that prepares international students for studying undergraduate programs in Russian

The curriculum at the Pre-University Faculty has been carefully developed to ensure a high level of readiness for international students to succeed in their chosen master’s programs. During the course of study, emphasis is placed on improving Russian language proficiency and mastering professional terminology essential for future career development.

Training at the Pre-University Faculty is conducted in full-time format. 

Additionally, courses within the extended general education program prepare international students for studying master’s programs in Russian, providing foundational language skills and subject-specific knowledge.

The preparatory program for international students is designed to enable them to pursue professional educational programs in postgraduate studies (PhD) in Russian. This prepares students to continue their education within the framework of the postgraduate programs at the Federal State Educational Budgetary Institution of Higher Education "Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation" and other universities.

The training includes mastering the fundamentals of scientific writing, which is essential for publishing articles, conducting research, and successfully defending a dissertation in Russian.

Additional general education courses within this program are designed to prepare international students for studying postgraduate programs in Russian.

Training at the Pre-University Faculty is conducted in full-time format.

Admission Terms and Conditions

Foreign citizens and stateless persons are admitted to the Pre-University Faculty for the study of Russian language under additional general education programs, as well as for further education at the Financial University and other Russian universities in bachelor's, master's, postgraduate, specialist, and residency programs.

Enrollment of students is carried out both through quota-based selection and on a tuition-paid basis. The Financial University offers training for international students at the Pre-University Faculty in the following focuses: Economic, Humanities, Engineering and Technical, and Medico-Biological.

The duration of study under the educational program is 1 year (2 semesters).
The start date for studies at the Pre-University Faculty is September 8.
Application submissions for the Pre-University Faculty are accepted from July 1 to December 1, 2025.

The tuition fee for international students at the Pre-University Faculty for the 2025/26 academic year is 270,000 rubles per year.

Classes are formed as students arrive, taking into account the educational program profiles and their level of Russian language proficiency.

Upon successful completion of exams at the end of the pre-university course, students receive a "Certificate of Completion of Additional General Education Program."
Students who do not pass the exams can request a certificate of study with a list of studied disciplines and their hours in accordance with their written application.

Documents required for admission to the Pre-University Faculty:

  • A notarized copy of your passport (first page with photo), translated into Russian. The passport must be valid for at least two years from the date of application.
  • A notarized copy of your educational document, translated into Russian.
  • A color photograph (3x4 cm) in electronic format.

Please send these documents via email to: rusedu@fa.ru or submit them in person or through your representative in Moscow at:  Russian Federation, Moscow, Shcherbakovskaya St., 38, Room 803 (Metro station "Aeroport").

Organization of Student Visa and Registration Support

I. Issuance of Invitations for Entry into the Russian Federation

  • Fill out the form to request an invitation for study and send the document to: rusedu@fa.ru
  • Indicate a trusted person to whom the invitation should be handed over, or provide your email address to receive the electronic invitation;
  • The processing time for the invitation is 30 calendar days;
  • After receiving the invitation, you should contact the Russian Embassy or Consulate in your country to obtain a student entry visa for Moscow.

II. Registration of Migration Documents upon Arrival in Russia is handled by the Organizational and Visa Department of the Financial University. 

Within 2 days of entering Russia, you must provide:

  • Original passport + 3 copies;
  • Original entry visa + 2 copies;
  • Migration card (issued at the border) with purpose of entry "Study" + 3 copies;
  • Completed notification of arrival and visa application form.

Documents are submitted to the Organizational and Visa Department at: Moscow, Leningradsky Prospekt, 51/1, Room 0209 (Metro station "Aeroport").

Medical Documents Required for Admission (must be translated into Russian):

  • Blood tests for HIV/AIDS, RW, HBC, HCV, malaria;
  • Vaccination certificates against infectious diseases;
  • Certificate of vaccinations received;
  • Fluorography;
  • Dermatologist’s conclusion;
  • Stool tests for helminth eggs;
  • Infectious disease specialist’s conclusion;
  • Form 086/u (can be issued in Moscow), which includes: examination by a general practitioner, surgeon, neurologist, ophthalmologist, ENT specialist (otorhinolaryngologist), as well as general blood and urine tests.

The university assists international students in concluding an insurance contract immediately after arrival.

Arrival at the Faculty

  1. Inform the dean’s office via email: rusedu@fa.ru and send your electronic ticket (it is recommended to purchase a ticket for weekdays).
  2. Provide the following documents to the dean’s office:
  • Original passport and notarized translation into Russian;
  • Original educational document and its notarized translation into Russian, legalized if necessary;
  • 8 color photographs (3x4 cm) on matte paper;
  • Medical insurance policy (DMS);
  • Medical documents (must be translated into Russian):
  • Blood tests for HIV/AIDS, RW, HBC, HCV, malaria;
  • Vaccination certificates against infectious diseases;
  • Certificate of vaccinations received;
  • Fluorography;
  • Dermatologist’s conclusion;
  • Stool tests for helminth eggs;
  • Infectious disease specialist’s conclusion.

Form 086/u (can be issued in Moscow), which includes: examination by a general practitioner, surgeon, neurologist, ophthalmologist, ENT specialist (otorhinolaryngologist), as well as general blood and urine tests.

Ensure you have sufficient funds to cover tuition fees, medical insurance, and accommodation in a hall of residence.

Note! All documents and medical certificates must be translated into Russian. Translations are carried out at Russian Embassies or Consulates abroad or by notary offices in Moscow.
