The Department of Insurance and Social Economics of the Faculty of Finance provides education in higher education programmes (bachelor, master, postgraduate), participates in research and expert analytical activities of the FinU. Faculty of the Department are members of the Expert Councils on Insurance Activities of the Bank of Russia, the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, the Federal Antimonopoly Service, AHML, other ministries and departments, self-regulatory organizations of insurance companies, mortgage companies, editorial boards of leading scientific journals. The employees of the Department are owners and managers of insurance companies, members of collegial management bodies of self-regulating organizations of insurance companies and mortgage companies.
The scientific school of the Department has its roots in the XIX century and continues to develop confidently in modern times. The formation and development of the Department of Insurance, and later of the Department of Insurance and Social Economics, took place together with the Russian insurance market, and today almost every insurance company, non-state pension fund, state non-budget funds (Russian Pension Fund, Social Insurance Fund, Federal Fund for Mandatory Medical Insurance), SRO insurance business entities have alumni of the Department, and many of them began to manage insurance business.
The mission of the Department of Insurance and Social Economics of the Faculty of Finance is to train highly qualified specialists for the Russian and global insurance market, enterprises and organizations of the social sphere on the basis of innovative technologies and continuity of the established scientific school, working as a research and expert development institute.
The educational system implemented by the Department is aimed at training highly qualified specialists, providing them with basic theoretical education and the ability to adapt to market conditions.
Activities of the Department
Training of personnel in higher education programs
The Department trains and graduates bachelor's degree students in Economics, Insurance concentration, from 2018 in Social Economy and Finance, as well as master's degree students in Finance and Credit, master's degree in Insurance Business, also postgraduate students in Finance, Monetary Circulation and Credit (08.00.10). Training is provided on a full-time and part-time basis.
In 2016 the master's degree program "Insurance Business" received a certificate of professional and public accreditation, the first in the Russian Federation.
The Department actively participates in the conduct of courses in correspondence and open educational institutions, in the preparation and implementation of continuing education programs for specialists of the Bank of Russia, ministries and departments, banks and insurance companies, teachers.
Interaction with the basic departments of Ingosstrakh and Mortgage Housing Lending and Insurance (JSC AHML) guarantees graduates of the department employment in the largest insurance companies and banks in Russia.
Research Activities
The Department conducts scientific research on government orders, government contracts and contracts with companies and organisations. The main clients of the research are the Government of the Russian Federation, federal executive authorities, the Bank of Russia, the Russian Agricultural Bank, the All-Russian Union of Insurers, the Association of Professional Insurance Brokers, the Agency for Housing Mortgage Credit.
Together with the MGIMO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the All-Russian Union of Insurers, the National Insurance Guild, the SRO "Association of Mortgage Companies", the magazines "Insurance Business", "Corporate Economics" and "Modern Insurance Technologies", the Company organises and holds meetings of a permanent scientific and methodological seminar for the professional community.
Expert and analytical activities
The scientific and teaching staff of the Department of Insurance and Social Economics of the Faculty of Finance participate in the preparation of expert and analytical materials for the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the Government of the Russian Federation, the Bank of Russia, the Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation, the Federal Antimonopoly Service, other public authorities, employers' and entrepreneurs' associations.
