Link between Generations, FinU Rector Meets with Alumni from Different Years During Business Trip to Vietnam

On 31 March, Stanislav Prokofiev, Rector of the FinU, embarked on a business trip to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (SRV) with the aim of expanding scientific and educational cooperation with leading universities in the country and launching new international projects.

The FinU delegation included Ekaterina Kameneva, Vice Rector for Educational and Methodological Work, Grigory Ostapenko, Vice Rector for Digitalization, Kirill Kroshkov, Chief of Staff of the FinU, and Lilia Prikhodko, Head of the International Cooperation Department.

The program of the visit of FinU representatives to Vietnam began with a visit to the Russian House in Hanoi, where a meeting with FinU alumni from Vietnam took place in a solemn atmosphere: for more than 40 years of cooperation with Vietnam, FinU has trained about 7 thousand specialists in economics, finance and management for the country.

“We are very proud that among our alumni there are three Vietnamese ministers of finance of different years, many deputy ministers, the Head of the State Bank, leading businessmen. All of them are worthy people who have made and continue to make significant contributions to the development of their country and to the strengthening of friendship and cooperation between our countries,” the Rector of the FinU told the guests of the meeting.

Stanislav Prokofiev stressed that the FinU highly appreciates cooperation with the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and is proud of the achievements of its alumni, who serve as an example for modern students. The Rector of the FinU said that today more than 160 young people from Vietnam are studying at the University. The Vietnamese student community is one of the five largest groups of foreign students.

Stanislav Prokofiev noted the importance of further development and strengthening of Russian-Vietnamese relations and thanked the representatives of the diplomatic corps and the Head of the Russian House in Hanoi Vladimir Murashkin for organizing the meeting, which is an example of sincere friendship and communication between the generations of the two countries.

In turn, Minister-Counsellor of the Russian Federation Ekaterina Bakeeva and Head of the Russian House in Hanoi Vladimir Murashkin in their welcoming remarks noted the significant contribution of the FinU, a leader in financial and economic education, to the training of highly qualified international specialists for the economy of Vietnam.

Mr. Ho Te, who served as Minister of Finance of the SRV from 1992-1996, delivered a response from the alumni. In his speech, he emphasized that the knowledge acquired at the FinU laid the foundation for a successful career and helped to reach professional heights. The meeting with the alumni was followed by a gala concert: the audience warmly welcomed the artists and sang along with them the legendary “Katyusha” in Russian.

As part of the business trip, FinU plans to conclude cooperation agreements with leading universities in Vietnam to train specialists for both countries.
