On March 1, 2024, FinU celebrated its 105th anniversary. The celebration began with a solemn meeting of the Academic Council, which was attended by distinguished guests, staff and faculty of the University, as well as heads of all branches of the FinU.

Opening the meeting of the Academic Council, Rector of the FinU Stanislav Prokofiev noted that the FinU is rightfully the main forge of financial personnel in our country. During its 105-year history, the University has a long, largely innovative history of development and has trained over one million highly qualified specialists. FinU alumni have made a significant contribution to the prosperity and well-being of our Fatherland, its economic and social stability.

“We are approaching our 105th anniversary as a mega university, one of the ten largest universities in the country. Today, FinU is a large and multidisciplinary university that not only trains highly qualified specialists for our economy, but also forms citizenship and worldview, continuing the glorious traditions laid down by its founders,” Stanislav Prokofiev stressed.

The FinU Rector expressed gratitude to the faculty, stressing that “all that makes up the glory and pride of the University today are the results of the work of its faculty,” and also emphasized the importance of the connection between generations.

Concluding the greeting, the Rector presented the first awards established in honor of the 105th FinU’s anniversary – Commemorative medals “105th anniversary of the FinU” to Honorary President of the FinU Alla Gryaznova and President of the FinU Mikhail Eskindarov.

Then, for the welcoming speech, the floor was given to the Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation Anton Siluanov. He read out a congratulatory address from the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin. Then Anton Siluanov congratulated the participants of the meeting on his own behalf, noting the importance of training highly qualified economists, financiers and managers who are able to think creatively and effectively solve tasks, cope with the challenges facing our country.

In a solemn ceremony, the Minister presented the staff of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation with the Honorary Badge of the Russian Federation “For Success in Work”, announced the awarding of the honorary title of “Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation” to the FinU Rector. Faculty and staff of the University received state awards from the Minister of Finance.

For his contribution to the FinU development, the Rector of the University presented the Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov with the attributes of the title “Honorary Professor of the FinU”.

“Undoubtedly, Anton Germanovich is one of the brightest and most outstanding alumni of the FinU. And we are very grateful that, despite the responsible tasks assigned to him, he does not forget his Alma Mater and takes a lively part in the life of the FinU, has been heading the Department of Finance for more than one year, regularly lectures to our students and makes a significant contribution to the development of scientific and educational activities of the University,” Stanislav Prokofiev said.

Further, the staff of the FinU was congratulated by Igor Shevchenko, Deputy Head of the Government of the Russian Federation. He read out congratulations from Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin and presented awards from the Government of the Russian Federation to faculty and staff of the FinU.

Joining the congratulations, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Olga Petrova stressed that author’s projects and initiatives are born at the University, noted its unique atmosphere and thanked everyone who contributes to the training of a new generation of highly qualified specialists. After completing the appeal, the Deputy Minister presented departmental awards to teachers and employees of the FinU.

The President of the Central University of Finance and Economics of the People’s Republic of China, Professor MA, also sent congratulations to the University. In his video message, he emphasized the prestige and authority of the FinU in the international scientific and educational community.

The solemn meeting continued with a speech by Alexey Egorov, Rector of the Belarusian State Economic  University, who noted the importance of international academic cooperation and expressed gratitude to the FinU for many years of productive cooperation.

In turn, addressing the head of the leading university of Belarus, the Rector of the FinU said, “Taking into account your contribution to the development of international cooperation and friendly support between our universities, the Academic Council of the FinU unanimously decided to award you the honorary title of “Honorary Doctor of the FinU” and to present the attributes of the honorary title, diploma and the mantle of an honorary doctor.”

At the end of the solemn event, congratulations were received from representatives of the University’s branch network.

The celebration of the FinU’s anniversary continued with a concert with the participation of the Rosgvardia Academic Song and Dance Ensemble.
