Program description

The Institute of Online Education is a synthesis of modern IT technologies and the fundamental knowledge of the FinU faculty. We believe that modern technologies are our friends and helpers, and we successfully apply them in the educational process.

Our mission is to preserve and increase the quality of education, making it available in a modern and convenient online form. With us you get a state diploma of higher education, and you study entirely remotely. The geography of our students is wide: Cape Town, Vienna, Alanya, Dushanbe, Kaliningrad, Murmansk (and many other cities in Russia and around the world). You only need to come to the university once – to pass the final state certification. 

“Digital Educational Practices and Technologies” is an online master’s program for those who want to become leaders in digital education and manage EdTech projects.

Our students will professionally master modern educational technologies, learn how to implement pedagogical design and pedagogical program design, create digital content, work with digital traces, analyze instructional data, and use advanced learning technologies to improve the quality of education in a digitalised environment.

The master’s program is built on a combination of fundamental pedagogical training and practical activities in applying digital educational technologies, development of educational content, creation of EdTech projects, and educational events.

  • Laureate of the Russian Federation Government Prize in Education (2013), Laureate of the Russian Federation President Prize in Education (2001), “Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation", member of the International Academy of Informatization, Corresponding Member of RANS, Board Member of the Russian Association for Digital Humanities, member of the Board of the Association “History and Computer". 
  • Authored more than 240 publications in the field of online learning, 4 multimedia courses, 3 patents of Rospatent. 
  • Initiated the development of a number of multimedia educational products, online platform Adaptive Mathematics, recruitment system for applicants in social networks, simulator Professional Probation Platform, etc. 

Upon completion of the program, graduates will be able to

  • Apply advanced technologies in educational activities, including adaptive and immersive technologies;
  • Perform pedagogical design and pedagogical design in a digital learning environment;
  • Create contemporary digital content;
  • Develop and use tools for individualisation and personalisation of learning, create and implement educational projects using digital services and tools;
  • Work with digital data, evaluate learning effectiveness, and make instructional decisions based on learning analytics;
  • Conduct research related to online learning, advanced educational technology, explore various aspects of digitalisation in education, and apply research findings in practice.

Key disciplines of the concentration

Digital Transformation of the Educator

As part of the discipline, students will study the basic requirements for a modern teacher, various competency models of digital mastery, and basic tools for building an individual teacher’s digital environment.

Pedagogical Design in a Digital Learning Environment

Students will study the main models of pedagogical design, learn more about the tools of design thinking, including emotional intelligence and its impact on the learning process. The discipline explores modeling of educational space for distance learning, features of the construction of educational space in online courses as well as data-driven mechanisms for managing educational space.

Immersive Technologies in Education

Students will be introduced to the possibilities of immersive learning and explore techniques for implementing immersive learning in the classroom and in the digital learning environment.

Instructional Analytics and Assessment of Learning Effectiveness

Students will learn about the possibilities of immersive learning and explore techniques for implementing immersive learning in the classroom and in a digital learning environment.

Digital Tools for Educational Content Development

This course introduces students to the methodology and principles of digital educational content development and explores its typology. In practice they will learn how to create and develop educational content for visualisation and presentation of information (infographics, mental maps, educational video content). They will study digital tools of augmented and virtual reality as well as tools for creating interactive assignments to organize active learning activities, effective feedback and project work.

Individualization and Personalization of Learning in a Digital Environment

This discipline examines Russian and foreign experience of personalized learning, aimed at educational results and the realization of personality-centered potential of the learner, as well as methods and practical approaches to designing an individual educational trajectory.

Simulators in the Modern Educational Process

The discipline explores cases and practical tasks related to the development of simulator game architectures, methodological aspects of learner involvement and evaluation of the effectiveness of educational simulators.

Adaptive Technologies in Online Learning

This discipline introduces the experience of using flexible and adaptive approaches in learning to solve various professional problems, as well as the development of soft skills and digital skills.
