About the department
The Department of Sociology of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Mass Communications (former Department of Sociology, History and Philosophy; Department of Sociology) was established on July 1, 2016 by merging the Department of Philosophy and the Department of Applied Sociology.
Regulations of the Department
- The Department offers the program in “Economic Sociology” and the master’s program “Social Management of Strategic Development”.
- Training of scientific and pedagogical personnel is carried out in correlation with the field of study 39.06.01 “Sociological Sciences”.
- The Department trains promising specialists who possess sociological methods of analyzing social processes in the field of economics and finance, who are able to critically comprehend the social consequences of economic management; calculate the social risks of economic reforms and offer constructive solutions to complex socio-economic problems.
- The Department employs 47 faculty members – Doctors and PhDs, as well as researchers who have deep knowledge of the subject and are able to interest students in the problems under study, conducting classes in an interactive form, in the form of seminars and role-playing games, round tables using multimedia devices, and working in computer classes and a media library.
- The scientific activity of the Department is represented by the Scientific School “Gender and Economic Sociology”.
- The Department has launched the Educational and Scientific Laboratory of Sociology and the International Center for Social Expertise and Development.
