The Department of Banking and Financial Markets was established on July 1, 2020 after the reorganization of the Department of Financial Markets and Banks.
The Department of Financial Markets and Banks was established by the decision of the Academic Council of the Financial University (protocol №44 of 26.05.2016)

The mission of the Department of Banking and Financial Markets is to continue the academic tradition of research into the theory of money, credit and banking, as well as to implement a practice-oriented approach in higher education.
Nowadays the Department trains specialists for the financial system and has strong and long-term partnership relations with the Bank of Russia, leading commercial banks and banking associations, development banks and investment institutions, stock exchanges and professional securities market participants, companies in the field of banking consulting and auditing.
The partners jointly work on educational and methodical projects, educational disciplines, conduct scientific and practical conferences, and organize practical training for bachelor’s and master’s students.
The faculty have published dozens of manuals and textbooks, which are known and used in many universities of the country, for example, “Money, Credit, Banks and Banking” edited by Professor Oleg I. Lavrushin.
