The Department of Political Science is part of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Mass Communications of the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation.
The mission of the Department of Political Science is to be the leading Russian center in training highly qualified specialists in political science, to increase the scale of scientific and research projects and works. An important area of the Department's work is also constructive interaction with the labor market to help young political scientists and public relations specialists find employment and realize their working potential.
The Department actively cooperates with relevant ministries, RSPP, Analytical Holding LLC, the State Duma, RISS, which allows students to gain practical skills necessary for effective competitiveness in the labor market.
The educational process is provided in accordance with educational standards, work programs and methodological support tools approved in accordance with the procedure established by the FinU, the specifics of which include the use of forms of intermediate control that exclude formal attitude to disciplines (written exams, systematic monitoring of the quality of teaching by students (the survey "teacher through the eyes of a student" and etc.).
The Department promotes the development of Russian political science through the active and systematic publication of the results of research and scientific and methodological activities in social sciences. The Department also actively participates in various kinds of competitions for scientific grants, in the examination of dissertations, scientific articles, monographs, textbooks, tutorials prepared for publication, and other scientific projects.
The Department includes the Center for Political Studies, established in 2011, whose mission is to promote the scientific potential of the FinU in the public and expert-analytical environment, as well as the synthesis of academic and applied political science knowledge. Another structural unit of the Department is the Educational and Scientific Laboratory of Internet Projects and Research. The main goals of which are to provide students with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the practice of working with social networks and training in the use of available SMM tools.
