On March 1-5, 2021, the First Rectors Forum of Russia and Thailand ”Education in Russia and Thailand: Dialogue with the Digital Society” took place online. The First Rectors Forum of Russia and Thailand is aimed at developing social relations between the countries, fostering academic exchange between the universities, increasing the value of scientific research in both countries.
Friendly diplomatic relations between Russia and the Kingdom of Thailand date back more than 120 years. Economic, political and social relations between the countries are developing with the growing goods exchange, touristic flow and strengthening cultural relations.
Many of the students, who are currently studying in Russia and vice versa, are experiencing difficulties after their graduation. That is why it is of crucial importance for us to come up with new formats so that these valuable professionals are not lost. We need to develop networking and promote effective interaction
On March 4, within the framework of the Forum, a strategic session "Education and Business" was organised. Alexander Linnikov, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, joined the event on behalf of the Financial University.
"Today our discussion is dedicated to the integration of business and education, because at present, it’s impossible to do business without a high-quality and well-rounded training. And we are proud that the Financial University is in the forefront of bringing together business and education", says Alexander Linnikov.
During the presentation, the Vice-Rector spoke briefly about the establishment of the Financial University, noted the main University achievements and development directions which are realised in cooperation with leading domestic and foreign companies.
"It should also be noted that the University pays substantial attention to the development of student entrepreneurship initiatives. Specifically for this reason we launched a "Business-Incubator" project which is actively functioning now. Moreover, we liaise with our international partners to develop and support entrepreneurship", notes Alexander Linnikov.
At the end of the meeting, Alexander Linnikov thanked his colleagues for this unique opportunity to participate in the prestigious Forum and expressed confidence in further developing fruitful cooperation with Thai universities.
The Forum was organised by the Russian Union of Rectors, St. Petersburg State University of Economics, Moscow State University with the support of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Thailand, the Government of Saint Petersburg and the Council of Rectors of Saint Petersburg. Representatives of leading Russian universities from Saint Petersburg, Moscow and other cities, as well as the largest universities of Thailand joined the Forum.
