November 27, 2020, the IV All-Russian Seminar of the Association of Foreign Students of Russia took place on the basis of the Financial University.
The Central Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Border Service of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation (FSB) joined the seminar on "Foreign Students Adaptation Issues".
The purpose of this seminar is to boost the effectiveness of organising work with foreign students of higher education and to develop the Russian international educational market.
On behalf of the Financial University and FinU Rector Mikhail Eskindarov, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Alexandder Linnikov thanked and welcomed the participants of the event.
It should be noted that today more than 180 universities and over 400 participants have joined the event, among them are respected rectors and vice-rectors of Russian universities, representatives of the State Duma, the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, medical organisations, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Federal Security Service. The challenge the whole world is facing today is to overcome all difficulties and go back to normal. Having received this experience, I am happy to report that our foreign students did not suffer under current circumstances because the Financial University is doing its best to adapt to the new conditions
Deputy Vice-Rector for International Cooperation Andrey Remenzov also welcomed the participants and thanked them for participation.
"We are proud to house the diverse student community at our university. Today we have organised a full-fledged training process using remote technologies", says Andrey Rementsov.
The IV seminar was aimed at discussing some legislative issues, the educational process, and the sociocultural adaptation of foreign trainees at the present moment.
During the meeting, Olga Pilipenko, a Deputy of the State Duma, a member of the State Duma Committee on Education and Science and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Association of Foreign Students, described the state measures to support students and foreign students in particular.
"Any decisions regarding students in the field of education and upbringing should be carefully weighed and responsible", noticed Olga Pilipenko.
As part of the event, Director of the Department of State Policy in Higher Education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Tatiana Ryabko also welcomed the participants. On behalf of the Department, Deputy Director of the Department of State Policy in Higher Education Alexey Levchenko elaborated on the difficulties encountered and noted the success achieved.
During the IV Seminar, the speakers shared their experiences in adapting and organising the educational process for foreign students during the pandemic in their universities respectively, noting the problems of online education as well as mechanisms to support international academic mobility.
CEO of the Interacademic Healthcare Center “Medsanchast” 03 Elena Kantemirova spoke about the medical care for foreign students and noted the determining factors in the choice of insurance.
At the end of the event, a representative from the Directorate-General for Migration responded to the questions raised by foreign students and universities.
As a result of the IV Seminar, a final resolution was adopted, which will be sent to the relevant competent state authorities and universities.
