April 7, 2020, Financial University joined the programme called Coursera for Campus. Almost 4,000 courses on the platform were made available on the free basis to students and professors of the Financial University.

From April 7 to July 13, 2020, 3,319 people were registered on the platform. 310 of them have already received certificates on successful completion of at least 1 course.

From July 6 to July 13, 2020, staff of the Online Education and Data Analysis Laboratory from the Institute of Online Education conducted a survey among participants of Coursera for Campus. The survey was conducted with the help of GoogleForm. 220 students, who had already completed their studies or were in the process of completing an online course on the Coursera platform, took part in the survey.

The main objective of the study was to evaluate participants’ satisfaction of the online courses available on the Coursera platform.

It is worth noting that the online courses chosen by the respondents were related to the field of their training. Although the platform offers courses in various languages, the majority still preferred courses in English.

According to the respondents, online courses can partly replace traditional classes, as they have a number of advantages: an online format, a possibility to listen to lectures by professors of renowned world universities, and to obtain experience of non-standard education.

FinU students highly appreciated the quality of the online courses presented at the Coursera platform. They were most satisfied with an easy access to the platform, the number of hours spent on training, the quality of the training material and the professional competences acquired during the course.

A vast majority of respondents noted their interest in online course, which had built-in online simulators and stressed effectiveness of such online courses.
