July 27, 2020, Financial University hosted  opening of the first Summer School "Sustainable Development in the Black Sea Region" (the first module is organised online). Аccording to the agreement of the three universities — the University of National and World Economics in Sofia, the University of Aristotle in Thessaloniki and the Financial University in Moscow — Summer School will be held annually for the students of these universities within the framework of the Association of Economic Universities of South and Eastern Europe and the Black Sea Region (ASECU). The second module is planned for 2021 in Thessaloniki.

The lectures on 27 July were focused on the following topics:
1. Financial instruments for sustainable development;
2. Social entrepreneurship as an important tool for sustainable development;
3. Sustainable development challenges for the Black Sea region; 

The lectures highlighted the importance of solving current problems not only from a utilitarian perspective, but also from a philosophical and existential point of view. The following issues were discussed: the necessity of financial investments to revive destroyed natural resources; the necessity to develop the economy on the basis of materials processing; the important role of social entrepreneurship on the micro level, which covers not only ecological systems, but also human; the development of "blue economy" as part of "green economy". A wide range of interesting issues were identified for the future Summer School programmes.

Department of International Cooperation and Faculty of International Economic Relations are participating in the Summer School programme on behalf of the Financial University.
