President Putin Addresses the Nation April 28th, 2020

During the meeting with governors and members of the government, Vladimir Putin announced 6, 7 and 8 May 2020 to be non-working days in Russia. The long "May holidays" will be May 1-11th, 2020.

Mr Putin noted that the better Russians comply with the imposed self-isolation measures these days, the sooner the epidemic will be defeated.

"The most difficult stage lies ahead", stressed the President.

Vladimir Putin pointed out that the non-working days will be fully paid.

Moreover, Vladimir Putin proposed to officially establish Ambulance Workers Day on April 28th, thus expressing deep respect for this profession.

The lockdown period was initially introduced by the President from 30 March to 5 April 2020, but later it was extended.

The main aim of these measures is to curb the spread of the COVID-19 infection.

Russians are recommended not to leave their homes without a compelling reason, work remotely if it is possible, and minimise social contacts.

Staying at home is essential to help health-care workers, who are focused on rescuing infected patients.
